Absolute Bearing

Throughout the years, Athena had been many things involving the sea. Captain, deckhand, even pirate (though she would never admit that to certain esteemed friends).
There had always been something soothing about the waves, even as they rocked against the small boat carrying her toward the Indefatigable. She would have preferred one of her own ships, but George had insisted, and in the name of “family”, she had acquiesced. But she had chosen the ship, if only for one of the lieutenants.
George did not necessarily need to know that.
Captain Pellew snapped his spyglass shut as the boat grew ever closer. “Our guest arrives,” he said to the man standing next to him. “Shall we go and greet her?”
