Max wasn't surprised when he came home to find an extra pair of runners by the door. They weren't even on the shoe rack. They were just left there beside it, one runner on its side and the other pointed towards it as if someone had just kicked it off. There was an extra jacket, one he had been missing for weeks, hanging above the shoe rack, and a backpack was abandoned next to a familiar battered looking suitcase. All Max could do was shake his head and try not to smile. He knew that smiling would encourage this breaking in behaviour, so he smothered it down as he kicked off his own shoes. He made a point to put them away neatly, leaving the other pair in their haphazard state. There was no one in the living room or kitchen. That wasn't surprising. He knew exactly where he'd find the person responsible for the mess in his hallway. He was right as he pushed open his bedroom door to find Lando sitting on his bed, propped against the headboard and wearing Max's clothes. "When did you break in?", Max leaned against the doorway, eyebrow raised as Lando looked up from his phone and gave him a smug smile. "I didn't break in. I have a key", Lando smugly pointed out, dropping his phone to his lap as he all but lit up under Max's gaze, "Miss me?" Max stared at him for a moment, considering his reponse. He had missed Lando. He always missed him when he went away and Max couldn't follow. Lando was pretty much half of his soul at this point. Seperation hurt, no matter how long they had been doing this now. It never got easier, but admitting that would make Lando wilt with apologies that Max didn't need or want. "I had wondered where my headache had gone, yeah", Max teased instead of admitting that he missed Lando, and he got a pillow thrown at him for his reponse as he laughed at the disgruntled look on Lando's face. "Dickhead", Lando pouted, not that he would ever admit it, "I came all this way to surprise you" Max smiled at that, and made his way to his bed. He slotted into Lando's side like he belonged there, like they were two misfit puzzle pieces that only ever fit together. His arm wrapped around his shoulder without a second thought, and Lando's head was on his shoulder instantly, leaning into him. "Colour me surprise, Bob", Max smiled fondly, "It's good to have you home. Headache and all" Lando's mumbled "fuck you" was lost in laughter when Max's fingers drifted to that one ticklish spot on his ribs, and that was all it took to have them tangled up together. The two of them losing themselves in laughter and kisses and soft touches that betrayed just how much they had missed each other.
It has begun
----------
He's not sure when it all started.
Marshal Commander Cody was just Cody now, the word rolling off his tongue like he'd known it all of his life.
Cody Cody Cody, he could say the name all day long and never tired of it. Or is it never getting tired of the way Cody responds, always looking up no matter the task to give Obi-Wan his undivided attention?
Honestly, Obi-Wan couldn't remember when he'd fallen for his commander.
No, that's not entirely accurate.
Commander Cody had become Cody when the Jetti had faked his death, returning so many days later to his men, to Cody. The 212th that had been on the Negotiator cheered at having their general back, being tender with the man who had been in a horrific prison for some time. Cody waits until Obi-Wan has enough time before ushering the poor man to his cabin, hand on his back gentle as he helps Obi-Wan change some of his bandages. Cody isn't angry with him like Anakin is, just looking so tired as he listened to Obi-Wan's ramblings as the adrenaline from pushing to see his men is finally wearing off.
It had been the first night they had shared a bunk, neither saying a word when Cody departed in the morning after making sure Obi-Wan didn't need anything from him.
Oh
"Cody?" The report that Obi-Wan should have been reading through had been forgotten almost an hour ago.
"Yes sir?" The response comes from the rather warm surface Obi-Wan was leaning against, the marshal not batting an eye as he signed off on whatever he had been given.
"I do believe I'm quite in love with you." The general finally signs off on his own report, using the Force to float it to the sizeable stack across the room.
"Figure this out just now?" Obi-Wan can hear the rumble of amusement in Cody's chest, and looks up with a slight pout. Those hazel eyes the Jedi has not stared at before flicker over to his face, and light up with the shine usually reserved for a few specific people.
"...perhaps." He should feel more apprehensive, but instead feels a weight fall from his chest he'd never noticed.
"Here I thought you were one of the more observant Jetti, cyare." Cody truly is amused, and drops the pad in his hand onto the floor so he can wrap his arms around Obi-Wan and nestle the man firmly against him. The Jetti, for once, doesn't question as he closes the distance between them and kisses Cody head on. Whatever worries he's had in the last rotation melt away as he feels his commander anchor him, their cabin the only thing in the universe as they pour their love for each other into every movement. The commander is chuckling when the two decide that air was quite important, and the slightly flushed Jedi raises an eyebrow.
"We should have started doing reports together earlier, if this is all it took." Chuckles are now full laughter, and Obi-Wan can't help but grin as he watches his commander, no boyfriend?, laugh at the absurdity of it all.
He could get used to this, no wonder Anakin goes to the lengths he does to hide his wife. Hm, perhaps now would be a good time to talk about that....
