It was no question Mindy & Chris wanted something truly different and very personal for their wedding. Their venue, Laurel Mill Lodge is a tucked-away haven surrounded by redwood trees just by Los Gatos. As a old summer camp, it is also equipped with cabins for guests to stay overnight-- perfect for the couple with many out-of-town guests. On the property is also a fire pit, a meadow and my favorite-- lush pear trees.
It is difficult not to be charmed by the details of this wedding-- an Atlas as their guestbook paired with a globe marked with their round-the-world route, "fortune teller" programmes and wildflowers in medicine bottles to decorate their tables.
Comfort food was key in building Mindy & Chris's menu. They wanted their guests to enjoy classic flavors sans anything "flashy." The final custom menu choices were:
- Pre-Ceremony Beverage Bar with Lemon Tea, Peach Tea and Water, plus a selection of cookies - Bite-Sized Chicken and Waffles - Tomato-Mozzarella Bruschetta - Farmhouse Cheeses with assorted crackers, nuts and grapes - Signature Salad - Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto Gnocchi - BBQ Pulled Pork - Country-Style Mac & Four Cheese - Roasted Market Vegetables
After dinner, the couple cut their gnome-topped wedding cake and guests were treated with a selection of Mindy & Chris's favorite seasonal pies.
