IT’S ABOUT THE yearning. THE devotion
She didn’t know what to say. She knew how he felt about her. She knew, and she’d told him... She has hoped it’d wane if they just did what friends did, but maybe she’d leaned on him a bit too much. Maybe part of her needed to feel loved like that, like she’d been before. She’d missed Mamoru so much and...
God, she was so selfish.
She was cruel. Even if she’d told him that she was in love with someone else, she’d also... She’d not really given him the space to accept that, had she? And then there was what happened before Valentine’s Day. She’d made a decision that had hurt him, she’d not really put enough thought into it. She should have known better, she knew how he’d felt...
And she was terrible, god, so terrible, because even thought she knew it was bad, bad, bad, bad and so completely ungrateful; she wanted to hear those words -needed to- but not from...
She didn’t deserve it. That kind of devotion. She didn’t. She couldn’t give him anything back. She was clinging to her memories with Mamoru, holding on because she would bring him back, she would save him, but then what? If what Rose said was true, would he just... No. No, no. She was holding onto him because they loved each other. Her love had bested death too. She loved Mamoru the same way Kazama was saying he loved her.
And what was worse was that... If she didn’t hold on, if she let go, if she hadn’t already been in love to begin with, she could have... She could see herself loving him back.
Her gaze dropped to the floor, head ducking along with it almost shamefully, “Why?” It came out soft, a confused whisper. Tears stung her eyes and she shut them tightly. She was overwhelmed by her own reaction, but she didn’t want him to think he’d made her cry. Because it wasn’t him, not really. It was her.
It was all just too much and she’d been holding it all in for too long. She was a mess.
“Why do you... why me?” She continued, the lump of emotion forming in her throat making her voice crack as her hands fisted into her skirt, trying to maintain some semblance of control, “I-I can’t respond to that. I don’t want to hurt you any more than I already have, but I can’t give you an answer to that. I don’t deserve that kind of love.”
Even with her eyes shut so tight her head hurt, the tears still came, against her will, shoulders shaking slightly with her attempts to keep it in. She didn’t want to say this to anyone. Least of all him. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry I can’t... I’m sorry, I’m so sorry....”
his eyes opened with a start, a sharp inhale leaving him followed by series of coughs that echoed in the quiet of that subspace hidden beneath the command centre. chest heaving, rising and falling rapidly, mamoru chiba glanced around. wide eyed, pupils dilated in that shock.
...he was, awake?
his fingers twitched, and he stumbled, coughing still, but pushed himself. legs weak, he gripped onto the side of the ‘bed’ he had been laid on for all these.... how long had it been? months? he nearly collapsed, but as it was wont to do, his healing factor was already kicking into overdrive.
his head ached something awful. mamoru breathed out, glanced towards those stairs. not a few minutes ago, another man had been there. he had come here, seeking solace, and had told mamoru so very many things. yes, he remembered. despite not being physically conscious, he could recall everything these long months. mamoru’s gaze dimmed, head hurting worse.
he breathed in, then out. straightened his posture, stumbled only slightly as he began to make his exit.
ONE THOUSAND MILES AWAY ; THERE’S NOTHING LEFT TO SAY. THERE’S SO MUCH LEFT THAT I DON’T KNOW. THIS WORLD HAS TOO MUCH NOISE. IT TAKES ME UNDER, ONCE AGAIN.

@absolutionlacuna continued from here:
“Hmm, struck a nerve, eh big guy?”
@redratrobed SWORD CLASH--?!
asahi had ‘rested’ like his master had advised him to. but enough was enough; it had been so long. by this point, sora was different, again-- no longer half demon & half human, fully human. something had gone on in the in-between, and asahi didn’t care what.
all he cared about? sora was weaker now.
which meant ample opportunity to fight the moron!!
the strike came out of nowhere; one moment, sora had been enjoying some time to himself & the very next breath, asahi was charging him, katana at the ready. quick movement, blade against blade, but sora’s was weaker. feeble, because unlike asahi, sora couldn’t transform his tessaiga anymore.
asahi grinned, and pushed, harder, shoving force down onto that weaker blade. he felt it give, and then sora’s tessaiga SNAPPED and broke, pieces of that metal blade went flying and embedded themselves into the nearby grass and dirt.
SCENE UPDATE
Thanks to DES’ INFLUENCE: RAIN WILL BEGIN TO FALL IN TOKYO & IT’S SURROUDING WARDS. This rain will NEVER STOP & seemingly keeps on for days, though it’s amount and intensity varies. STRANGELY, it’s never enough to flood out any areas, as though the water vanishes as soon as it touches the ground, but NORMAL PEOPLE CANNOT PERCIEVE THIS as to them it simply looks like it’s raining a lot & the government just has good flood-prevention in place.
