Des is just smiling.
If you know, you know.
My, my, everything looks so calm. Everyone looks so happy lately!!
BE A SHAME IF SOMEONE RUINED THAT, HUH.
thecursedpriestess:
Instinct trumped logic, as the miko attempted to run towards the child. Her plaintive cries ripping her heart apart, the sight horrifying. But of course, it was not to be. Kikyou did not make it in time and bore witness to the child’s untimely death. Irises were wide and pupils constricted to points as she stared in shock as a heavy silence fell.
Then the scene changed.. but not before she saw who the culprit was. Her throat tightened and Kikyou paled. Was this what the demon child meant ? As environment shifted and her heart raced, Kikyou wondered if she was being shown glimpses of Kazama–Inuyasha’s past. It would make sense.. considering what Des had said to her.
But..it was a difficult pill to swallow. Why?.. why was he like this? What happened for him to do such a horrible thing.. So many questions and zero answers. And again, she was tossed into what she assumed was a memory. Her heart broke at the sounds.. but still.. she persevered. She had to. Kikyou had to find out why…and whether she can speak with him.. if it was possible. Exhaling slowly to brace herself, the miko plunged forward quickly “Kazama…Inuyasha…” She murmured his name softly, eyebrows knitted together as she scanned for him.
he was slaughtering them all; the villagers were trying to run from him, but kazama wouldn’t let them get terribly far. oh, he let them think they could escape. mostly because their fraction of slim hope was so amazing to cut down. that accounted for all the screaming. by the time kikyou reached the area, everyone was already dead around kazama’s feet. women, children, men, the eldery; no one was left. this village had been decimated.
hearing footsteps, kazama glanced back, and eyed her, but didn’t move. didn’t turn to greet her. unlike last time, nothing stopped, or bled away. seconds ticked by, with kazama just, stood there. watching her.
thecursedpriestess:
Did she say bad ? Kikyou simply meant that he could not be trusted. But it was also true that her instincts had been warning her. There was undoubtedly something off about this person... demon or whatever he was. Yet, she kept silent as she saw no need to respond letting him laugh. Kikyou did not owe him an explanation…and it would seem... that she would not get an answer regarding the weapon either.
How troublesome.
“…I am assuming there is a point to bringing me here. No matter. Show me what you wish.” With her annoyance growing, Kikyou utilized her other senses to keep her bearings. Clearly this was meant to prove something to her or to demonstrate a point that may or may not clash with her judgement. Either way, there was only one way to find out. It would be pointless to try calling out for that person. So Kikyou made her way through the darkness, bow in hand. The sound of the crying child hurting her heart and unconsciously drove her to quicken her steps up the small incline. While she was following the noise, she wondered what else lurked in this... place. She had no doubts that she was being watched.
kikyou would notice a young child up the incline, it was a young girl, and she was wearing blood stained clothes. there was a trail of bloody footprints behind her, as though she had been running while soaked in blood. though, before kikyou could reach the child, there was quick, intense movement out from nearby trees-- a glint of reflection of that moonlight overhead from a katana’s blade.
the sickening squelch as that metal cut into flesh, melted through bone with such ease. that crying of the child stopped, only because her head had been lopped off. her attacker landed, gracefully, and kazama glanced up, red eyes catching sight of her; his hands and clothes, that blade, it was all stained in blood.
then kikyou would find that pathway melting, her vision bleeding away from that path before she could really ‘speak’ to kazama. only for another portion of that darkness to light up, to shine, and kikyou would hear it. screaming, sounds of multiple people screaming and fleeing.
thecursedpriestess:
🏹 Did she really need to answer that ? There were enough reasons to doubt anything that came from that mouth of his. “You are opportunistic and relish in the pain of others. Naturally, your intentions are to be doubted as well as, what you desire.” Was it wise to get this creature a weapon it sought ? If it endangered everyone else, at the price of Kaz–Inuyasha….was it worth paying ? Kikyou knew the answer to that mental question. “Again, be more specific. What kind of weapon, whose weapon and why this object ? I cannot promise you a favour if I have little information to go on.” Or decide whether….this weapon will cause more harm than good.
“and so that makes me bad? because you deem it so? interesting.” des trailed, considered, head lulling from side to side slowly. as though des were weighing options in their mind. “i wonder~ what you’d say of kazama. would you judge all of his sins the same? call him a demon too? a monster?
if you think i’m bad, why!” another laughter here. so loud, and des doubled over some, holding their own stomach. wheezing, they pushed a hand onto the boulder as though to compose themselves. but then they glanced up, still hunched over, eyes black as void, no pupils or irises to be seen,
“you’ve seen nothing yet!!”
and before kikyou could react, could think to, she was surrounded by darkness, a pitch blackness that obscured her vision. then she would hear it: the sounds of a young boy, crying off in the distance. that void would give way to a dirt path surrounded by snow, which led up a tiny incline; it seemed that sound was coming from up ahead.
des, meanwhile, was nowhere.
thecursedpriestess:
Generous ? Hardly. The unease she felt only grew... but what other choice was there ? The least she could is attempt to listen and take it with a grain of salt. In her own fashion, she ignored the grandiose exclamation and went straight to the crux of the matter at hand. Kikyou did not like to needlessly waste time. “What is this favour that you wish of me ? And certainly, if it involves harming anyone, then the answer is no.”
“of course not! why, what do you take me for, some kind of demon?” des giggled then, but it was uneven, too high pitched and sudden, not to mention how it stopped on a dime. as though des didn’t need to breathe in order to keep that laughter going,
“i just need you to get a certain weapon for me. i would, but well. if it were that easy, i wouldn’t be asking you. now would i~?”
thecursedpriestess:
🏹 What mattered was that his wretched hands were no longer on her shoulders. Whether or not it bothered him, was inconsequential. It had done its job and Kikyou shifted again to face the nuisance.
“So if he was to return earlier than schedule, what implications would that have ? “ It was very much stated that he was to return at some point. What Kikyou was uncertain of –why kill him in the first place. “Oh? I am aware there will be consequences..but I would not have pegged you as one to give warnings about such a reckless request.”
“yes. well. i’m feeling generous today. after all. love is the strongest bond there is, wouldn’t you say? it conquers all!” des swept their arms outward, grandiose in gesture and no doubt overblown. but what fun would any of this be if des didn’t add a little flair! “or so you humans say.
“if you promise to keep a favour for me, i’ll tell you what needs to be done on the start of your journey to bring kazama back.”
thecursedpriestess:
🏹 Perhaps a part of her had always known..but she had dismissed it because it was impossible. How could he have changed so much..to even bear a different appearance. Had it been a spell ? Or maybe she had choose to ignore her instincts as she knew full well..his feelings for this other person. Regardless, the validation of her suspicions only struck her harder and the resultant pain crushed her heart.
Instead of answering, she began to purify the filthy hands upon her shoulders. If he kept touching her, then it would continue to sizzle and burn. Kikyou hoped it hurt terribly. Mocha hues finally shimmering with a vicious, rage filled light.
“Be quiet. I have no use for your idle barbs. All I wish to know is–is it possible to give him life once more. And if so, what will the cost be for that and for him to live his life unbothered by you ?” It was a big stretch but some demons enjoyed gambles, challenges or bartering. Whether he fell into one of those categories, she will see.
des didn’t flinch when she tried to purify them. in fact, the most des did in response to this was crinkle his nose. as though she were a gross bug that had excreted some puss onto their palms. they clicked their tongue, shook their hand a bit. then blinked at her demand. a sigh left des, and they moved a hand to lay against some of their bangs. still just floating there, now ‘sat’ mid-air, legs comfortably crossed,
“of course there’s a way. it would be stupid if he just died. after all, he had unfinished business. and that’s not something i can help. though. you may want to deeply consider exactly what it is you’re asking of me~!”
thecursedpriestess:
🏹 Kikyou would be loathed to admit that his speed or transportation..startled her. She had encountered nearly every type of demon..but those that could move with such blinding movement or appear to teleport..were those with incredible power. How irksome. To add injury to insult, he even dared to touch her. “Nothing is done in this life without purpose. Even a supposed mindless activity, has some sort of purpose..whether consciously or unconsciously aware of it.” In other words, even if it was just for amusement, that was a purpose.
Swivelling slowly, she tilted her head up to note his new vantage point. “No.If he had a secret he did not wish to share, that is his concern.” The more pressing matter was..how was she going to deal with this being. Kikyou was powerful in her own right but even she..was cognizant of her limitations.
“neat. kazama is inuyasha.” des didn’t care if kikyou wanted to know. she was going to. why? because. no reason, really. des was gone then, suddenly floating behind her, their hands pressed into her shoulders. to lean in. to whisper, but it wasn’t just in one ear; that sound surrounded kikyou, as though in her very mind itself,
“and you failed to save the one you love. again. would you like to see? or perhaps feel it? his final moments.”
thecursedpriestess:
🏹 Earthen hues were fixed upon the amused individual. So she had been correct…For once, she had truly hoped she had been wrong. “Mh. And was there a reason for that action ?” Kikyou maintained her composure perfectly..but within her heart there was a quiet sorrow as well as annoyance. “Was it a long term resentment, grudge or for sheer amusement ?”
“reason? haa, you humans. always wanting to assign purpose to things!” des moved, then, very suddenly beside kikyou, just slightly behind her. they moved, and placed a smaller hand on the mid of her back. if she tried to move to strike them or step back, des would be gone then. just sat on a nearby boulder, leaned so casually,
“do you want to know a secret? something kazama never told you?”
thecursedpriestess:
Kikyou’s facial features barely changed, save for a subtle tightening of her muscles. “You are an anomaly in this time.”, she replied simply. Her mind was already trying to process whether it was wise to pursue the topic of the name uttered. It was not a coincidence that he should be familiar with the demon. “Oh? I did not know you two were acquainted.”
a little laugh left des, and that noise echoed as though a bell that chimed, drifting so casually in the air surrounding the two, “oh kazama is a dear. truly. & we know one another deeply. after all, i am the one that killed him~.”
thecursedpriestess:
🏹 “ You, like others I have come across, do not belong to this era or time. “ And to make it worse, this child filled her with unease. To do so was not an easy feat, which begs the question as to what he was and the purpose for his presence.”Just what or who exactly are you ?”
“haaa,” des let out a breath, tongue clicking against their fangs behind a closed mouth, lips turned into a frown. “you make it sound as if you didn’t come to find me. how nice for you. i’m sure kazama would have said the same thing~.”
@thecursedpriestess
“eeh? interesting. not many seek me out. so. what do you need, miss ‘priestess’?”

chxmpionofjustice:
Nothingness wasn’t all together a foreign concept to Usagi. As much as she tried to forget, she’d experienced it once before, in a very eerily similar situation. Throwing herself into the abyss of Pharaoh 90 had been terrifying and had plunged her into a darkness so deep that existence had seemed optional for a suspended moment in time.
As darkness settled around her and she realized that she felt nothing, saw nothing, that memory flashed back to her. Her light disappearing, being swallowed as she sacrificed herself for the world. A brief wave of panic rolled through her and she clenched her fists tight to feel the sensation. To know that there was nothingness around her, that she was not a part of it.
She existed.
Her brief moment of comfort for herself didn’t last though, a voice echoed around her, made her blood freeze and her body go rigid.
She’d heard that voice before, laughing. Laughing in a nightmare where her friends… They were disappearing, she’d run toward them, tripped and fell onto a sword. Endymion’s sword. She’d woken up before she landed but that laughter was carved into the recesses of her mind.
This voice matched it.
“You…!” She choked, curling up protectively as a strange feeling, almost like fatigue swept over her. She’d felt this before, when she was younger, when the Dark Kingdom had wanted nothing more than to gather energy. Her energy? It was being drained? Or was it more than that? Her hands covered her brooch on her chest as if that would stop the draining feeling she felt within.
“You were in my dream… Who are you?! Why are you doing this?!”
des smiled, and their form shifted then: it was kazama, but then...
then, their form changed into a shorter, black haired masculine identity, with dark brown eyes. and they smiled, “why? do i need a reason?” des let out a louder laugh, and usagi would feel that power draining faster, being stripped from her stronger than it even would have felt when she’d been younger.
“you can call me des. i’ve always been there, you just never noticed me. but then again, you in particular surround yourself in light. though, that doesn’t matter terribly. clearly,” and des gestured, and usagi would see it, not that far, floating, but drifting farther away: kazama’s body, limp, unmoving. even if usagi tried to chase after him, kazama would only get farther away.
chxmpionofjustice:
She was almost there. Her heart was pounding in her ears as her gloved fingers brushed his. His hand grabbed hers and there was a split second of relief, relief that she could get him out, he wouldn’t be swallowed by the darkness beneath them. But in that moment, there was movement behind him and she glanced behind him, eyes widening at the person there. No! Why now–
The sound of the slice of a blade cutting through flesh would haunt her nightmares for the rest of her days, she was sure. It wouldn’t be the first nor the last remnant of a battle to be seared into her brain, but it would certainly be impactful. Just as feeling Kazama let go of her hand was, the strange broken scream that echoed through her mind (which she probably should have realized was coming from her with how her throat was burning), the way his eye filled with tears as he looked at her.
How cold Asahi’s smile was.
And the way they were both dragged under into darkness.
“NO!” She fought against the hold on her as she was pulled bodily back, her eyes leaving the pool briefly as she did, gaze landing on the not-child who stood there… Enjoying it all. This… This was all their doing in some way, wasn’t it? It seemed too convenient. That as Kazama gave into his negative emotions, Asahi was just there at the ready. Waiting for…
Sora’s frightened voice pulled her back from her thoughts and her eyes shifted back to the dark ooze she was just pulled from, that they had just descended into.
Get out of there? They couldn’t… They couldn’t just leave them…
“N-no… No.” She stuttered, shaking her head, eyes still trained on the ooze as her mind raced. She wasn’t leaving. There was no way she was going to leave. Not when he’d been taken… Taken where ever the hell that ooze led to. She wasn’t going to leave him. She’d save him. Asahi too. She’d save them.
She’d save them both.
“Sora,” Her voice was calm, she suddenly looked calm even though her heart was beating at a mile a minute. She knew what she was going to do and he probably wasn’t going to agree with it.
“Make sure Tuxedo Mask gets out of here safely, tell him I said to gather the senshi. I’ll need their help to get back… It’s going to be okay.” She pulled away from him then, quickly, flashing him a reassuring smile as she did, “I’ll bring them back.”
“I’ll bring them both back. Just believe in me, okay?” She stepped back, lifting her eyes briefly to look for Tuxedo Mask. Even if he wasn’t hers anymore… She could see him one last time and that would be enough to make her feel stronger. Then, she pushed Sora back, out of harm’s way and let herself fall backward into the ooze to be dragged under as well.
She would save them. She would release her power to purify the ooze from within, no matter what it meant for her.
des had been witness to everything. as always. they watched from nearby, grinning -- although, that grin twitched away. it faltered briefly, as usagi calmly talked to sora. as she smiled reassuringly, spoke boldly of bringing back, of having belief.
their pupils dilated, shrunk in some shock -- she dove into that darkness. dove in as sora screamed out for her not to, failed to reach out for her in time.
the second usagi was engulfed and vanished, des’ pupils grew in glee, and then that grin widened. and they laughed so loudly that it tore through the air and echoed for miles, for seemingly ages.
for the moment usagi entered that darkness, pushed herself in through that ooze, she was just, floating in this blackened abyss. this darkened abyss that had no solid ground, as though she were drowning in water that wasn’t actually burning her lungs or truly, immediately, being a cause of death.
and she wouldn’t see nor sense kazama or asahi anywhere, because des HAD SENT USAGI SOMEWHERE ENTIRELY SEPARATE FROM EITHER OF THEM.
“OOH, LOOKIT YOU. LIL HEROINE~.” their voice mocked, seeming to echo around her, not from any one area or direction, as though the sound were echoing from within her very mind itself.
“THANKS FOR MAKING THIS SO EASY!!” usagi would feel it; her crystal, her powers, were starting to, dim. not fade entirely, but it were as though just being in this area, was stripping her bare.
catch des watching all this going down JUST LAUGHING IN GLEE.
