Week 90, Day 624.
This is going to have to be a short post as I have limited time, energy, and WiFi to write it. I have limited time because this week I’m attending the 3-day annual AWWA conference, which means long days and a 40 minute drive, on the wrong side of the road, and on the wrong side of the car. 😝 I have limited energy for the same reason, but also because I have been busy with lab work (finally!), and conference abstract and journal paper writing. 🔬 However, last week was also super fun; my friend came to visit and if I had to write about everything we got up to, it would be a separate post in itself! I will most likely share some of our experiences and photos next week. 🗻 I also received an acceptance email for one of the conferences that I had applied to! So looks like I’ll be presenting in front of a big crowd in a few months time! The fear is real! 😬
A little on minimalism and sustainability...
I have been desperately trying to make a conscious effort to avoid all freebies (unless it’s food of course), and have been relatively successful so far. However, I had to accept a freebie at this AWWA conference as they were handing out REUSABLE METAL STRAWS, which came with a little carry pouch and a special brush to clean it! I tried mine out on a strawberry lemonade, and absolutely loved both (the lemonade and the straw)! Top job DIPRA, the company that provided these. 🥤
I recently finished a book called “Turning the Tide on Plastic” by Lucy Siegle. It was an eye-opening, informative, terrifying, and extremely useful read all at once. 20/10 recommend. 🌊♻
I have finally gotten around to trying out my shampoo and conditioner bars from Lush and can now recommend them with confidence! I am very fussy with what I put on my hair, so was really worried that the bars wouldn’t be as good as some of the other bottled products that I use, but they absolutely were; bye bye plastic. ✨
On that note, it’s back to the conference I go. Thank you to all 500+ (!) of you that are following my journey. I am forever grateful. <3 Have an awesome week! Photo: Just a real pretty picture I took of some nature on my way to the conference. Source: My camera.
