this is like the beginning of one of those nerd raps that get performed at PAX and have to make obsequious references to classic NES games but not ones that are too obscure
juggle, chute?
(chute as in the transportation technology.)
Hm...the first is a little tricky. I’d probably have to go with a literal translation for Matoran--something like “to control the arc (of spheres?)”. That would come out something like rho-maya (rho “circular, cyclical, on-going”, maya “to control”) or rho-daya (daya “to order, direct, orient”). If we want “sphere” to be a part of the derivation, it’d look something like zamoromaya / zamorodaya (zamor “sphere”).
The second is quite a bit easier. In the past, I’ve used the term vu or vuhi for “conduit” and “chute”. If you want to make it specifically one of the liquid-proto chutes in Metru Nui, just add no “protodermis”: novu(hi).

it might also be that spacial metaphors are normal human language, because that’s how human minds work
Like granted, that’s definitely a true thing, but like... for me, there’s a mental disconnect between conceptual hierarchy and spatial highs and lows? The last time I read through Homestuck, I was preoccupied with figuring out the various ways up/down are embedded into the Hope/Rage dichotomy -- like, John “descends” into a Rage colored grist when he enters his Dad’s room (2808), because he’s afraid of what he might find (and heights). This was mind-blowing to me! That things that are considered “low” or “regressive” or “base” could all be wrapped up with the direction they suggest.
I’m struggling to grasp at the exact issue, but the gist is that what you’re saying doesn’t always feel obvious? I think considering the etymology of your choice of words has to be a deliberate act a lot of the time.
that post fails to take into account that Eridan and Cronus are destroyer classes, so they probably don't offer the clearest example of the aspect.
In reference to the Space/Hope post? I guess that’s true but at the same time I think the two are united by the “destroying babies” motif – Eridan through magic lightning blast and Cronus (mythologically) through consumption. And since both of those modes of action link back to Grandpa, I think their example stands as things that can be representative of the remaining Hope player, if not the aspect in general.
abstractagamid replied to your post: I’m calming down, but one more thing: John and Bec...
no, you’re succumbing to the theories!
: ) Hey agamid look at this, look at this:
This is a narrative thought of Bec Noir, but doesn’t it sound like something in line with John’s own sense of existential boredom? : )
Isn’t it odd that John is the only other “new god” present in the session? : )
I’m not succumbing to anything, the water’s fine? : )
abstractagamid replied to your post: I think your idea with Grandpa Harley being the...
so Bec is kinda the Scratch to Grandpa’s English?
Huh... That’d be another Kanaya parallel too wouldn’t it.
