Abuse reference cn// (this is abt Sarah Schulman)
I just for the first time read the full collection of pieces by Rosa Daniel Lang/Levitsky abt Sarah schulman, found here:
and like. Ok I’ve never read anything by Sarah Schulman. But. And. Hmmmm where to start.
The reason I’ve never read anything by Sarah Schulman is partially that I’d heard some of the rumors referenced in the article and largely because, back when I was more actively trying to understand what had happened w my ex (which I kind of still always am but meh), i, one singular time, called them emotionally abusive on Facebook. And like ok I still feel complicated about using that term and generally don’t now for my own reasons and like that’s also not. The point of this. Ok. And anyway in the post I very specifically said ‘I don’t need anybody to stop being friends with them and this post isn’t about them it’s about that I’ve been afraid to even think about asking myself whether that term was allowed to use and afraid to talk to our mutual friends about what happened and I want other people to know that they should talk to their friends.’ It was like. V a post about being in recovery from a shitty relationship.
Anyway one of our mutual friends screenshotted it and sent it to my ex and then got in touch with me and said they weren’t comfortable talking to me anymore because I was trying to start a smear campaign against my ex and all I wanted was for everybody to shun them and cut them off and didn’t I know that not all conflict is abuse I should try reading Sarah Schulman and oh oops they had assumed I was still Facebook friends w my ex and had made that post while they could see it (??) and then three weeks later my ex got in touch with me and offered to ‘get coffee or something’ because it ‘seemed like I had some things I wanted to talk to them about’
And so like. I just have too much personal shit wrapped up in that book to like. Want to read it. Right.
Anyway so I just read that series of pieces by Rosa about Sarah Schulman and one of them just like. Describes. Nearly exactly the series of moves that this mutual friend and my ex made. Like Sarah Schulman offering to talk to ppl who accused her of harm but only privately so that they could work things out and shunning people and telling them they’re overstating abuse despite the book theoretically being about not shunning people and.
Idk sometimes u read something and it’s just. Wild. U know.

Help stop abuse of my incarcerated penpal!
My penpal Joseph Stewart has been transferred back to solitary confinement in retaliation for his continuing advocacy for his fellow prisoners and for his political beliefs. The prison guards at Alexander Correctional Institution have beat him, limited his access to drinking water, and denied him access to books sent to him in accordance with prison policies. His prisoner number is 0802041.
Please contact North Carolina State Senator Natalie Murdock at (919) 733-4599 or [email protected] to demand that she intervene to stop the abuse.
When is the real time to use non-violent communication? Because I’ve only ever seen abusers and cults use it to sound less shitty
have known for years that ‘parents who make u emotionally take care of them’ is a form of emotionally abusive parents but was always like ‘well that’s not really what happened in my life’ until talking to my therapist today so, lmao
