Robert was so fundamental in the abuse era, and this phase will always be the most difficult for Aaron...he would not have been able to do without him. It gives me a feeling of satisfaction, you know, thinking about how much they helped each other.

Emmerdale thoughts

So I was rewatching the abuse story line and gets what Aaron’s going through sort of but not really. She told Cain, Cain told Moira because she was worried what he was doing. Aaron told two people Robert and the police. He only told the police because Cain tried to kill Gordon and Aaron didn’t want that. Aaron asked Chas to tell the family, and Chas asked Cain to do it. Belle told Zak in a public place. Chas went a little stir crazy, told Gordon’s neighbors and blurted it out in the pub where Finn, James, Emma, Diane and Doug were. She may understand what Aaron or Charity even were going through but she wasn’t always the greatest with how she dealt with any of it.

I think after the trial and the boys got together I really don’t think Chas realized how much he was suffering because he had Robert. She saw it in small bits, but I’m wondering if he only showed the true pain he was feeling for Robert. She saw him after he tried to see Gordon’s body, but even though they lived together, she had her own issues after the trial. Also with having Liv, it gave Aaron somebody else to focus on.
