it is a genuine sore spot on the skin. you ignore it and it feels fine but if you keep fucking rubbing it, it turns red and raw and people keep fucking doing it and it fucking bleeds. doesnt matter if you wanted it to happen, if it was the right thing to do, if it stopped the fighting and abuse and yelling and pain. you just want people to stop bringing it up.

every npc fucking has to keep bringing it up too. even if theyve known you for so long, and should know better, they have to talk about it. and i get why, its the fucking elephant in the room. but then youve got tenna who just really fucking digs his nails in and i think kris should be allowed to take a baseball bat to his screen

i know kris hates us, the player. but im so goddamned protective of them, for this alone. i get it kris. i do. i want them to shut up too.

Sometimes discussing your parents with others is about lamenting the normality of child abuse and trying to reconcile feelings of genuine love and appreciation for people who will never even understand that they've inflicted more pain and misery on you than anyone else in your life. And sometimes discussing your parents with others is about watching all the other abused kids' eyes widen in horror as you realize that the thing you're describing only sounded mild to you because you've spent fifteen years trying not to think about it

olivace's mom is interesting bc he doesn't really talk abt her but also like. man. being left as a child fucks you up. being left by a parent who's supposed to care for you and help you Fucks You Up. esp if that parent has just left you with your abuser like......... man

i cant shut up. i finished my rewatch and its still so good. i got into the show like right before the finale and something really terrible happened to me around the time i started watching. 

it is... really hard to let go of abusers, especially when they are so badly hurt themselves. theres this overwhelming need to help them, because you love them, and you dont know what youd do if they died. and you do everything you can even when it tears you apart. and so, i think the timing that i got into and watched infinity train could not have been any better, it was... so real to me. 

my ex was exactly like simon in every way and so being able to see grace realize that what he does and what hes going through is not her fault, its not her job to change him, really resonated with me. i dont know. its something ive been told by therapists several times but, that kind of thing never worked for me. “dont go back to him. cut him off. break up. do not speak to him again.” all of the best advice from people who know and want whats best for me, and yet i couldnt listen until i.... let it click, for me? i dont really know at all, i just know that i needed my own time to work things out and i couldnt just be told what to do by someone outside. its so easy to say “just leave” when you arent the one going through it all.

i really dont know. im rambling and im trying to like really figure out how this just resonated with me so hard, that people have been telling me this and i was like “uh huh” and then i just see a character on screen be like “hey! i dont owe you anything” and then im like “OH SHIT, I DONT OWE HIM ANYTHING”. but it worked. i can imagine it probably had similar affects on others. it was a really really powerful scene and i just dont think book 3 couldve ended in any other way without it feeling contrived. you cant save everyone and youre not supposed to

I like the HTTYD movies for the friendship between Hiccup and Toothless, and man, the ONLY thing people talk about is Hi/ccstrid and I hate it. I didn't come here for this, give me the friendship the entire plot of the first movie is about, not some romance. (Idk if it's ~abuse~, persay, but I still don't like the "punch then kiss" thing. It's mean, and you ((or whoever said it)) is right that there'd be an uproar if it were the other way around :/)

Me too!!! I mean, that was the magic that really dragged me kicking and screaming into the fandom in the first place all them years ago. And I wouldn’t say the only thing people talk about is that ship -- because if you find yourself in the right circles it’s great -- but you’re right in that its a very pervasive subject in the fandom as a whole. Here’s to hoping HTTYD3 will bring about some wholesome Hictooth again!! *chugs mead at 8 am*

Honestly the whole “This wouldn’t fly if it were flipped” situation doesn’t read to me, since I believe it would fly. Not only for their culture (hearty back slaps and shoulder punching) but because Astrid isn’t really hurting Hiccup when she punches him in the kiss-and-punch. She’s not socking him in the jaw or anything. Who knows, Astrid might be into it as well (this was a JOKE doodle btw!).

This is something I talk in depth about on This post. I’ve also talked about how their physical altercations before have no weight on their later relationship. 

No, the thing that makes it ‘uncute’ for me is that Hiccup doesn’t seem to love it. He’s making a tolerance for what he knows she’s been raised to show as affection, but if she persists it shows she’s not really listening to him. That’s where it puts a sting on the relationship. It’s not a matter of ‘abuse’ (like damn, not by a long shot) it’s a matter of respect and listening.
