ACNH update! - Tarantula Island Tips
It's been a while haha, but today I finally managed to get to tarantula island!!
Ah, can't wait for all them bells.
Since this was my first time I struggled a bit because I never had so many tarantulas in one place and well... we all know how that ends (poor wilbur).
I thought I'd share a couple tips that I thought made things easier!!
So the basic layout is the mini island in the middle surrounded by a circular river.
When walking on the outside generally tarantulas didn't notice me that much but when they did they fell in the water! I wanted to avoid getting stung but the distance between the mini island and the outskirt was a bit too wide to grab the tarantula from the other side. By the time I caught their attention they'd already run head first into the water.
So I did this set up instead! (Idk if this has been done before but I sort of just did it whilst I was there and found it helpful for myself so thought I'd share)
(Also, just a little FYI for new players, tarantula won't chase you unless you have a net so you can do this safely if you have a shovel instead)
This let me get a bit closer without getting stung or the tarantula falling in the water.
(Yes, I sacrificed some stuff... I was originally on a villager hunt so I didn't empty my inventory properly beforehand 😭 lesson learned I suppose)
So after this I'd just run around the outskirts with a net to see where the tarantulas were, jump over behind the little safety wall and boom! The tarantulas would get all freaked out but couldn't get to me so I caught them from the other side.
They would run around in a little circle in front of me so when they got close enough I caught them. Sometimes they'd try to jump at me one after the other.
This made the process much quicker and I didn't have to do the awkward "get close one step at a time" method.
I know people do this on beaches when they make their own tarantula islands but since you can't lure them to the beach on the actual tarantula island I thought this would be a helpful little tip.
Alternatively you could probably set up a box inside the little island to cut yourself off but tarantula could spawn multiple at a time inside it, defeating the purpose of avoiding being hurt.
In the little boxes at the edge, if there is a tarantula inside the little box, if you have a net they will try to chase you and fall into the water so you wouldn't have to worry.
Bonus tip: remove trees so no random tarantula behind the tree catches you by surprise.
I hope this is helpful for someone haha, I know it helped me.
