She leaves a single heart-shaped sugar cookie on a plate at his desk, along with a note that reads: "Happy Valentine's Day Mr. Linden, ♥Candace". Sitting under the plate, gently folded and tucked under it as though serving as a platform, is a hand-knit yellow-and-gold scarf.
Klaus was surprised to find the cookie at his desk as he came into the perfumery, still tired from his long walk and incredibly chilled to the bone. Well, it was one of the few times he might have time for a cookie, he supposed. Sugars were needed after exercise, of course.
He smiled, amused and somewhat pleased with the continued use of his surname, taking a bit of the cookie - and then thumbing the scarf fondly. “Hm--♥” he hesitated, eyebrows rising up for a moment of fondness. He couldn’t remember the last time someone had given him a gift like that. He had been needing a scarf, actually - and briefly felt embarrassed to wonder if she had noticed that fact.
Nevermind that, if she had then she was only more attentive than he’d realized - and he shook his head, grinning as he took another bite of the cookie and hung the scarf over his coat.
