Losing insurance isn’t just a matter of financial death. It’s actual death.
Why did people used to pay the doctor with chickens? Because the doctor didn’t need to do anything expensive. We have more complicated medical care now. Which is great. If you can get it.
People cut pills in half, skip vital blood monitoring, and go without treatment entirely because their conditions aren’t something you go to an emergency room for.
And so they still die. Just more slowly.
