If people’s reactions are anything to go by, *gestures to the whole of herself up and down* I’m… I’m not pretty. I’m no curvy asari with their pretty faces and I’m definitely not those other girl turians. I don’t have those clean cut, smooth mandibles. Those thin limbs and hips that look like perfect rectangles. And it’s not like I’m wiling to give up my scars. I-I need them. *tch* -looks away angrily-

Buried in Ash

"Yeah and I heard the transport blew too."

"Been hearing a lot like that lately. Where was this again?"

"San Fran."

"Oh... I'm-I'm sorry."

Lucky sighed inwardly to herself as she swayed a little slower than usual. She had made a promise to work hard to keep spirits up. But with the latest batch of news- the wasn't much to lift. She had made a point to go all out for the guys in uniform but there weren't any here. They were all deployed to save the burning worlds.

Her heart ached. The faces. The broken spirits. It killed her to see it in one person. And it was everywhere. When refugees started flocking to the citadel, she had been excited. Happy even. But where she lived you saw the broken lying in the streets. To see them wandering. Staring out into nothing. It was like everyone was dead already. She hated it.

The somber energy was broken when an enraged C-SEC officer burst in, making a v-line straight towards a human who hadn't noticed him yet. Lucky used her dancing to mask her curiosity. Watching carefully and occasionally glancing Garuk who didn't seem to care yet. The turian slammed his hands against the bar as the human flinched subtly and pretended he wasn't there. Lucky watched as the other dancers stopped. All attention was on this one pissed turian.

"WHY!?" He shouted. "What could you have gained from doing that!?" The emphasis on 'that' stung as it rang out.

"Easy," The human casually turned, putting his drink down. "my friends get to live another day. What else, asshole?"

The turian seethed at that remark but the human wasn't finished.

"Do you even care what we were put through? Long before the reapers even hit anywhere we lived through hell."  He paused to stand. "We had enemies hide everywhere. We had months without sleep. We had- I watched my little brother burn.  Alive. And when I tracked that damn beast who took him from me. It took my best friend too. My only friend! The only person in this damn galaxy who ever cared! Listened! Hell just stood there looking pretty! A charred fucking corpse at my feet. And it laughed at me. Coughed smoke in my eyes and laughed. So you shut your damn. turian. mouth. About this."

At that he sat down and downed his drink in one gulp.

The C-SEC officer was burning holes in the man's head for a good minute before he spoke.

"You lost, huh? Fine. Keep it to yourself. But I will not have you taking civilians out in a blaze of glory again."

"They came of their own free will," He met his eyes, "Officer."

At that the officer left.

Lucky was shaken. By all of it. But mostly the parts that were too familiar for comfort. Memories swathed her at the man's detailed recollection of "hell". And they wouldn't leave when she recognized the tattoo on the man's neck.

Blue Suns.

Gripped at the sea of it all as wave by wave it came crashing back. The good and the bad memories of home. Of Korlus. Of the welcoming sun above and the threatening one below. 

"Lucky!"

She snapped out at the sudden outburst. Quickly negating her tech as she felt the temperature rise. It always had a bad habit of activating when she was startled. She had been dazing, looking around to get her bearings her eyesight was promptly filled with the eternal scowling face of her boss. 

"What do you think you're doing?"

"Ah-" Now aware she had been sitting, leaned against her stage pole while gripping both arms in a death vice. Releasing and feeling the pinpricks of blood flowing out.

"Mr. Moskirr?" a soft voice rang from beside them. "I don't think she's feeling too well."

He turned back to Lucky snorting in her face. Thoroughly discontented by her actions. Or rather, in-actions.

He grunted as he pulled away from her face. "Take a towel and go home, Lucky. Keep being soft like this and there'll be trouble again. You know this..." Lucky stood nodding. "I am not going to say it again." H ground out through clenched teeth.

Lucky hustled to the prep room and toweled herself off .

"I guess..." a sigh escaped her. "I guess I just hope they don't find me." She lamented to herself.

"And who would want to find you?"

Startled, the towel engulfed. She dropped it and quickly stomped it out.

"Shit." The voice chuckled out. "Stripper and a pyromaniac? Where you been all my life baby?"

She swallowed her fear before turning to face the voice only to be met with a small group. 

A salarian, batarian, and two turians now blocked her exit. One rather slender turian was slowly approaching her with a wicked grin on his face.

"I'm not your baby." she deadpanned. 

"Aw come on don't be that way. We can help you, you know." He gestured to the grinning bunch. The batarian now laughing under his breath.

This didn't feel right. She often found herself cornered but this was wrong. They were keeping their distance. Something wasn't right about it at all. The turian took her silence as means to continue.

"You see me and my associates. We've got friends in high places." The rest started mumbling and nudging each other at that. "You see. We're apart of a- well, a miracle service."

"Whatever product you're selling." She flicked a hand at him. "I don't want it."

"Ah you misunderstand. What we're selling here is a service to make all you problems go away."

She flicked a mandible at that. 

"How much do you really think I make that I can afford such a thing?"

"Ah-Ha! That's the best part. It's completely free."

Her browplates shot up. 

"All you have to do is take this" He held out a small data disk.

She twitched when she saw it. It couldn't be real. What he was offering. But then again. This was strange times. She recalled back to a human running around helping people a few months back, asking nothing in return.

"Come on. Don't be shy." He egged her.

She looked over the faces of the men all nodding at her. Then over the room to the floor at her feet. She found it hard to breathe. So she did the only thing that came to mind. She turned around swiftly grabbed her over coat and walked fast past the slender turian. Not even looking him in the eyes as she pocketed it. Trying to rush past the rest of them despite the seeming wall they made. Her vision was met with an odd symbol. Some sort of bumpy bunch of lines. It disappeared as they let her pass. Not without one smacking her ass as she went. This had only sped her retreat. Her boss went ahead of her to hold the door. Her namesake won out once again as she was out the door already when he noticed the men leaving the "private" room. 

She ran into many people as she sped past. Trying to distance herself as much as possible from her place of work. It was when she ran into a rather rude krogan that she chose to duck into a quiet alleyway.

The whole time she had been running she had her hand in her pocket. Removed now and fiddling now the disk idly. She took a deep breath, smoothing a thumb over it and popped it into her omnitool. The display had something written she could not read but the bar beneath it gave guess to 'loading'. When the line reached it's destination the device gave out a ping noise before the display turned to static and a garbled voice rang out, clearly disguised even she could see that. The connection hadn't been established fully when it spoke. Mandibles twitched nervously.

Her voice warbled a bit. "Hello?"

He understands that what Acario did to strenghten his biotics, even though he of course doesn’t know half of it, is extreme and only a brilliant mind (or an insane drug addict) could have accomplished what Acario did. He also admires him for his tech developments, because honestly, Alexei is a huge nerd.]
