It’s funny bc I’m the youngest of all my online friends. I’m 20 (turning 21 this month!) even tho yara once said I’m forever 19 in her mind. Seen that post going around abt wanting white fans to be louder than poc and as a Mexican I completely disagree. I know you’re a poc too so sorry for disagreeing and I’m not trying to fight you or anything! But all the twittter and instagram comments I see are way over half white people and it just feels really annoying. The white people on /here/ are even acting more offended on my behalf than I am. Yeah it’d be nice if they apologized but if I were them and saw all those white commenters. Idk

hello love! first of all thank you for being so lovely i completely get where you’re coming from and i admittedly could’ve worded my post better!

when i said i wanted white fans to be “louder” than poc i didn’t mean their voices should overpower ours, rather i meant that i wanted them to elevate ours, make our voices heard, support what we’re saying, etc. i wanted white fans to hold other white fans n white supremacists n the show accountable!! bc white people NEED to do that. and unfortunately. whether i like it or not. sunny (and many other ‘edgy’ shows) have white dominated audiences w people on mainstream social media platforms (such as twitter and instagram) who are going to be really fucking annoying and loud and say things like “actually the brownface was satire n they were doing something good! you’re just too stupid to understand they’re trying to help you miss woc :)” or something that will make me want to actually fight. and i don’t know what it is you’ve seen that you find annoying, but to me people on this line of thought are INFINITELY more annoying than people who somewhat agree w me and their lines of thought are in the right place

you mentioned how some white people on here come across as even more offended on your behalf than you are. i understand that sentiment. part of me isn’t even mad. i’m tired. poc deal w racism their whole lives! white people just get to bear witness to it every now and then. they will find it more jarring probably and people with the right mindsets are gonna be pissed on our behalf. you don’t have to be as pissed as they are. i won’t speak for your experiences, but poc go through entire ranges of emotion combating prejudice, to the point that we might almost be desensitized, or we feel we might as well stay away from the whole thing altogether because it’s Enough at this point. frankly, i feel comforted in knowing that i have allies yelling alongside me, with me, etc. i can’t do this alone. but your feelings are completely valid and you should trust your gut for these things. if you see a white person on here or on any other platform criticizing sunny’s racism in a way that you find is crossing some line, you should speak to them about it! there’s no obligation for you to do that, obviously, you have every right to just distance yourself from these people. but the point is that white fans should be listening to what poc fans have to say

lastly you said you would like an apology and that if you were rcgm+ and you saw those white commenters.... and like. honestly i don’t know. i think rcgm+ are fully grown adults with functioning brains. if they get the “wrong idea” or a misrepresentation of how they’ve messed up bc of some of the comments from white people when numerous poc have spoken up too AND have stated that they were poc who were hurt by the episode while doing so........ that’s on them. im sure they can figure out what went wrong by taking the time. the way they’re acting it’s as if some funny episode they thought would be a fan favorite didn’t exactly turn out that way, not that they severely pissed off a lot of poc by doing brownface again. i don’t know how to explain that. i’d rather not make excuses for them, because so many of them were complicit in this whole incident. and yeah i’ve p much given up hope re an apology! but they don’t get off scot free just because they aren’t going to offer me one. and i know im not gonna be able to constantly fight them throughout this whole process but idk so far to me this feels ideal. i genuinely do want to know what else you think though. do send me a follow up ask or dm me :)
