#accepting morality

i finally realized that my old accepting morality au made literally no sense so i decided to tweak it a bit!!

in this new version of the au, patton, instead of encompassing both morality and emotion, is just emotion. his side name would be sentimentality

instead, thomas’ morals become a facet of logan, who, in this au, is justice (which i might change later on, but anyay)

i’m not sure what to call the new version of this au. maybe just accepting sentimenality for now

so here's an interesting thing about the accepting morality au

An interesting idea I like to explore is how Patton would act if he grew to be as accepted by the others as Virgil did. If Patton followed in Virgil's footsteps and let go of most of his insecurities, curing himself of his impostor syndrome, he wouldn't shift into acting like canon Patton.

Don't get me wrong; he'd still be really sweet! Just not as much as canon Patton. Additionally, he'd have a completely different vibe. Due to his experiences, he wouldn't be nearly as naive as canon Patton seems to be. He'd give off a chill vibe. He'd give off the impression that he's comfortable with himself. I don't know why, but I feel like he'd be the type to (affectionately) make small insulting jabs at people he's close to as jokes.

Sadly, though, his "inner-child" aspect wouldn't really be as strong as it is with canon Patton. It'd definitely still be there, but it wouldn't be as prominent. Like... Imagine if Remy cared a lot more. That's how he'd act.

the funny thing about the accepting morality au is its original concept. it was literally just an au where patton was sad. no roleswap. nothing. like, listen, its original name was the shy patton au. i didn't even bother changing it until i made the info post. patton was just sad. it's a little less interesting, but i might share my scrapped first draft for the au... what do you guys think??

in the first draft of the accepting morality au,, virgil was also seen as an antagonist of the series. he bashed patton too, though,, i guess it made him feel like,, part of the group in a messed up way. hating patton kinda gave him a shameful cathartic feeling. which is super messed up.

anyway

at first, nobody even knew that patton was morality. well, he himself did, and,,, so did logan for some reason. something about being the smart one

so in a weird twist, logan ended up being the only one who remotely respected patton. and eventually, he's the one who finally speaks up & tells the others what patton's supposed to be and how useful he really is to thomas.

none of the changes i made to the canon storyline really,, made sense i guess. they kinda feel like they were just randomly thought up for the sake of 1) making patton as miserable as possible & 2) logicality

i'm super proud of the new one though

So, headcannon for your accepting morality au: Virgil didn't start out accepted by the gang either, the acceptance only happened after he showed the protection aspect of anxiety.

oh yeah that’s true actually!!! he wasn’t part of the gang at first, but that was all resolved before the series even started. it’s occasionally referenced as a past event in the series
