So in your AU, how would Thomas treat Patton in general? And how long would it take for everyone to figure out Patton represented morality?
thomas wouldn’t be as mean to him as the others are, but he,, gently dismisses his statements a lot at first. as for your second question, they’d know he represents morality from the beginning. i guess it’d be a situation where they know he’s morality, but don’t treat him like he is.
If the other sides don’t know what Patton is, what do they think he is? Like, do they think he’s a dark side? If so, which one?
they actually know what he is in the final version of the au, just not in the first draft. in the first draft, though, they might just think he's pessimism.
So, headcannon for your accepting morality au: Virgil didn't start out accepted by the gang either, the acceptance only happened after he showed the protection aspect of anxiety.
oh yeah that’s true actually!!! he wasn’t part of the gang at first, but that was all resolved before the series even started. it’s occasionally referenced as a past event in the series
the funny thing about the accepting morality au is its original concept. it was literally just an au where patton was sad. no roleswap. nothing. like, listen, its original name was the shy patton au. i didn't even bother changing it until i made the info post. patton was just sad. it's a little less interesting, but i might share my scrapped first draft for the au... what do you guys think??

I'm getting old and decrepit but I'm more self aware and aware of problematic stuff than I was as a teenage or young adult. So I guess life balances out?
