There's a saying: "Never kid a kidder." I used to be an "excuse queen". Always had an excuse for why things weren't going my way. That has all changed. My life and everything in it is my responsibility. If I'm surrounded by losers I can only expect to lose. If I'm surrounded by winners I can only expect to win. If I'm surrounded by bullcrap... You get the picture. It's easy for me to smell BS excuses from a mile off now and because I'm in control of my life I have the ability to walk away from it - completely ignore it. It no longer gets the time of day because this life I have is the only one I have and it's too short to be swallowed up by excuses. I was born to be a success. So were you.
