It had been a fight with her brother about whether she should be "allowed" to go to the ball that night. "Allowed" as though she was still a child he could control. For that reason Dorothea had decided to wear the dress that showcased her bump rather than hide it. He knew and he wasn't happy about it. He couldn't control her and for that he deserved any stress this might bring on. The farther along Dorothea got in her pregnancy the less she cared what others thought of an unwed pureblood mother and the more she thought about the life she was going to be responsible for. Her baby wasn't going to be held to such scrutiny as she had. Her baby would get some freedoms she and Edwin were never awarded. The only thing Dorothea hadn't considered was that Mason and some of his family would be at the ball that night. A knot forming in the pit of her stomach as her eyes fell on him. Merlin he looked amazing. Dora pulled her phone out and sent him a text, unsure speaking publicly while her brother was still in sight was such a good idea. You clean up nicely.
