If they could choose an ideal handler to be assigned to it'd be like this
Sabre: Somebody who doesn't enjoy riling him up for no reason, who doesn't keep taking him wherever they go and who will actually leave him alone. A little bit closer to Ann in that regard. He wants a handler that will give him the freedom to be out of their sight when hes not actually needed, instead of being treated as a toy 24/7. Someone predictable, easy to read; whose moods he can properly gauge, and who doesn't play games rigged against him or is hypocritical and condratictory. That's a thing he likes in Juste. He is straightforward. A bastard, yes, but a bastard who won't say stuff like "im not mad" while actively planning to punissh you for pissing them off. He's seen those kinds, he wouldnt manage it. A handler thats honest, too, more than Juste.
Espa: Somebody who is not quick to anger, and who understands the need of not causing trouble and inconvenience everywhere they go. Someone whom they don't have to fucking *babysit* whenever they share a room. Soomebody who gives treats and rewards a little more often.
"Puritan" is an incredibly accurate description of the people on social media speaking out to oppose depictions of abuse. It's not about being "puritanical" in the sense of unnecessarily moral, it's the type of belief system that prompts that specific behavior profile.
What are the characteristics of the puritans? As Anglo-American Protestants, they display religious fanaticism, obsession with literacy, utilitarian logic, salvation by faith. These are people who believe anyone can access God by reading the Bible, that constant hard work makes you moral, and that it's our responsibility to build the kingdom of heaven on earth.
As a result of the relationship with God being personal instead of mediated by the church, Puritans had to justify to themselves whether their faith, deeds, etc were sufficient to win God's love instead of being told so by a priest. This created people driven to constant self-policing, relentless work, and social anxiety borne from surveillance and strict rules.
The problem with Puritanism isn't the moral content of their beliefs, it's the effect those beliefs have on people's behavior and social development. People become preachy and arrogant, anxiety and OCD spike as people struggle to live up to their own standards, and no amount of social or financial currency can ever satisfy the endless need for validation.
Under the aegis of the American Empire, this way of thinking has been exported all over the globe. It is, in fact, the filter through which secular humanism is largely interpreted in our time.
Your average imperial ⁶oney, etc, will make it all better. That's what "cultural Christianity" really means: despite many transformations and cultural shifts, the underlying logic of modernity is still a search for salvation that feels fruitless and isolating.
Don’t you just love when tumblr posts things that weren’t meant to be posted yet 😪
I didn’t even mean to post that! Sorry!
