When I was growing up reading was always hard for me since i'm dyslexic so I really just stuck to the movies and loved them so much that when the last book came out I had to read it. I say it really depends on you. I still haven't read all the books but I've seen all the movies and I think starting there is great. That way you know if you enjoy the story enough to get the whole picture.
