Hello again! I recall you said you dislike Accolon? May I ask why?

Hi hi~

It's a completely personal distaste. I feel like he's a pretty "nothing"-guy. There's very little about him that genuinely hooks me. Morgan deserves someone interesting. Plus, their whole story at least in Malory just makes me go "ughhh".

I know I'm being weird and unreasonable, but I can't help it. I just don't like the guy. Also, when he's removed from the equation, there's so much more potential for the family to stay whole. And honestly, the motives too... I don't want to write a Morgan who wants to make her lover king. If she's power-hungry, that motivation would stand stronger if she's on her own. Without Accolon in the mix, there are so many avenues to explore, but when he shows up it's just "yeah okay we can all go home now, nothing cool is gonna happen here"

Just like their mother, Mordred was undaunted. When they found Accolon dragging the practice dummies out onto the training field, a smirk played on their lips. "I see I get my rematch against the Misery Twins,” they said. “And so soon too." The Misery Twins was what Mordred had dubbed the coordinating pair of fighting dummies, right after their first duel with them. Accolon had chuckled, though there was a rueful note to his laughter. He didn't relish seeing Mordred struggle - but he took great pride in seeing them thrive. Their determination was unwavering, and confidence was as important as armor, though an excess of it tended towards rashness and that had to be watched out for. So far, Mordred had managed to back up their self-assurance.

Mordred's duel with Elaine, as seen through Accolon's POV! Accolon won the poll and I wanted to do a POV shift scene from the demo, and I settled on a Mordred crushing on Elaine to explore the potential parallels between them and Accolon's and Morgana's relationship through the former's eyes 👀

If I got to include one character from Arthuriana to add to Merlin, I would have loved to see Sir Accolon (Jack Donnelly), Morgana's most loyal and trusted servant/lover!

I do know if the writers had Accolon on the show, they would have done something different...so here is my vision for the story for BBC Accolon 😉

(Alternatively you can also watch this as a BBC Atlantis crossover with Jason/Morgana. I feel the story line fits Jason well).

Synopsis:

Accolon is introduced in early s2 as just a squire/knight and who falls in love with the enchanting goddess, the Lady Morgana. He is supportive of her when he finds out about her magic.

So much so that he attempts to kill Uther. He is caught and tried for treason but escapes. The show continues on as it did for s3.

Morgana and Accolon do not reunite until maybe midway through s4. When they do meet, Accolon notices something has changed. This isn't the Morgana he fell in love with.

And while he wanted Uther dead to protect Morgana, he never wanted Morgana to fall into a power hungry craze. She asks Accolon to join her quest for the throne of Camelot. Realizing she won't change, Accolon refuses and leaves her.

I believe there would be one episode after this where Accolon will seek out Morgana to try and kill her for all the wrong she's done (someone, perhaps "Emrys" aka Merlin, manipulated/cursed him into turning on Morgana). But when he sees her, the spell breaks.

Morgana believes Accolon's assissination attempt was because he was working for Arthur. This leaves Morgana no choice but to hunt down Accolon and kill him.

While Accolon dies in her arms, she finds out that he was under Emrys's spell. Accolon would never have betrayed her like that.
