I have a migraine and don’t like my Monday afternoon lecture! (I learn better by solving the problems myself).  So I’m skipping the second half of class to work on my research projects and pretending it’s Divination.

Writing the outline for the next part of my fic after a day spent on deeply frustrating and urgent accounting. I am pissed about everything, so shit is going to go DOWN. 

(I considered queuing up a bunch of action scenes to write when I need a breather, but if I write things in this mood, future!me will probably decide it’s too dark to include.)

in other news I got a last minute invite to a recruitment lunch today with the firm I’m going to intern with because me and another guy went through recruitment last year but ended up delaying interning until next spring 

and that was kind of nice because we were basically there to chat and be friendly and answer questions and I met the new recruitment director who was super nice

and just, it was kind of awesome because I’ve been kind of freaking out about graduating like holy crap, do I actually want to do this and go to grad school and get a degree in this, and this was kind of a nice confirmation that it’s a group that I like and fit in with

also the senior manager who basically recruited me was there and he reassured me that yes, the accounting core classes suck but once you get through them and into real world applications it’s much more interesting

also one of the girls who is going through recruitment is in my classes and I’m sort of friends with (we’ve partnered for a few projects) so that’s kind of awesome

Went to a pre-interview recruitment dinner tonight for an accounting consulting company that I’m interviewing with tomorrow and am glad I decided to dress on the nicer side of business casual.

The recruitment dinners I’ve been to have been mostly buffet-style at barbecue places because this is texas and there’s really good barbecue here and I figured it’d be like that. But it was a fancy sit down restaurant and there were only six of us interviewees and three staff members and it was the sort of dinner where we got to pick an entree and there was dessert. So that was kind of exciting.

Anyway I’m interviewing with them because they offer summer internships which is pretty cool and the whole consulting side of the business seems intriguing because they go in and help businesses figure out what they’re doing wrong and fix it before someone else comes in to audit.

apparently I accidentally got an interview for an internship next summer? basically I went to the accounting career fair a few weeks ago because the firm I'm already interning with emailed and said they'd be in town so I figured I'd stop by their booth to say hi

and when I got there they were all busy talking to students so to kill time I went and talked to someone from a consulting firm and found out that they do summer internships which would be rad because mine is for the spring

so anyway I chatted with the woman there and gave her my resume and went off to go talk to the other firm and haven't been thinking about it much because I've been busy

and we were supposed to sign up to request an interview for the consulting firm but I forgot 

and yet I got an email this past Thursday letting me know that I'd been accepted for an interview so apparently I must have impressed them enough that they signed me up anyway

also in other news I mentioned to the firm that I'm interning with that I was thinking about delaying grad school by a semester (which wouldn't impact my internship) and they were super cool about it and just told me to let them know when I decided for sure which is kind of a huge relief because I'd been stressed about telling them
