Elle a eu lieu dans le cadre du festival Shake Danse Hip-Hop organisé par le Centre chorégraphique national de la Rochelle à la Galerie Maubec. The Roots - một tác phẩm xuất sắc của Kader Attou. 

Nếu như Petites histoires.com mình coi cách đây 6 năm là câu chuyện được kể bằng hiphop và xiếc nhào lộn thì The Roots lại có thêm đường nét của ba lê. 

Có lẽ vì cùng một biên đạo, nên màu sắc nghệ thuật của 2 vở diễn khá tương đồng. Cả 2 đều rất nên thơ. Dùng từ “nên thơ” để miêu tả về hiphop dance nghe chừng không hợp lý lắm. Nhưng nó lại là cái từ mà mình thấy chuẩn xác nhất để nói về vẻ đẹp mà Kader Attou muốn phô bày cho công chúng thấy.

À, hôm nay đi coi The Roots và nhận ra “người quen”. Nhìn phát nhận ra luôn bạn dancer Mabrouk Gouicem - thành viên nòng cốt của Pockemon Crew. Mới coi bạn biểu diễn vở Hashtag 2.0 cách đây độ nửa năm chứ mấy. Nay lại được gặp lại bạn trong The Roots. Chậc, công nhận trí nhớ của mình vẫn tốt lắm :)))

ACCRORAP

French based company Accrorap, led by Kader Attou, performs The Roots, a visually striking work for eleven men,  at The Joyce Theater this  from 23 January to 28 January 2018.  This spellbinding French troupe combines hip hop, circus arts, and contemporary dance to thrilling effect. For its Joyce debut, the company performs The Roots, a visually striking work for eleven men that “explodes in your face like a shaken can of soda.” (Le Monde) Spectacular and poetic, nostalgic and innovative, the dance looks backward as it glides forward. Set to music that varies from electronica to Brahms, The Roots delves into the origins of hip hop, but the stellar dancing—which The New York Times called “marvelous in synchronization, skill and fearless exactitude”—is all about the future of this electric form.

The performances at The Joyce Theater are part of a U.S. tour of The Roots,supported by Institut français, Région Nouvelle Aquitaine, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the U.S., and FUSED–French-U.S. Exchange in Dance program.
