Thank you for asking, I'm happy you like him! I was really excited to talk about him and it got kinda long, so I’m gonna put it under a cut ^^’

Madds is my player character in a Savage Worlds ttrpg campaign (using the Accursed setting) that I'm playing with a couple of friends. He’s pretty gruff and surly and he spends a lot of his time in the forest away from people just vibing and thinking. The rest of his time is spent getting in bar fights with other patrons who goad him for being a werewolf (a major source of conflict in this setting). He was actually recently banned from the last tavern in the city that would accept him due to these repeated altercations, so now he’s in the market for a new hobby. He used to be a pretty talented woodworker before the whole werewolf thing happened; maybe he’ll get back into that.

Because he’s so solitary, his best (and only, really) friend is a fellow party member, Alaric the dhampir played by @crimscrepe​. The two of them met when Maddock saved Ric from some monsters who were chasing him through the forest (by literally throwing himself at them) and Alaric, in an attempt to help, accidentally shot Maddock while aiming for one of the monsters during their scuffle. Alaric took him to a church to get his wounds looked at afterwards and the two of them have been inseparable ever since!

Madds is built almost entirely for hand-to-hand melee combat and most of his other stats are terrible as a result, but because of some ridiculous luck, he ended up rolling a 23 on a target roll of 6 to follow a scent trail in a room and so could smell exactly how many unique people had been through the area in the past month. It’s now become a running gag that his first instinct is to try smelling pretty much anything and anyone he comes in contact with.

And speaking of combat, we’re partway through our first major fight right now in the campaign! On Madds’ very first turn he was shot with a cannon and then kicked a guy so hard they flew across the room and were impaled on a weapon mounted on a wall on the other side. He got pretty hurt in the process but at least he was a total badass while doing it. Here’s hoping he fares alright for the rest of the battle ^^
