they’ve been 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐒 for so long that this should never have been a possibility. & more than friends —— they work together, they’re partners. it’s in their best interest to keep things platonic, just as they have been all these months.

keeping things platonic has always been difficult for eve, starting way back when they were trainees at quantico. eve had rolled her eyes at possibly the only 𝐅𝐁𝐈 𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐓 to find calling himself a ‘ federal boob inspector ’ funny — but even then, eve had been drawn to his boyish smile, his easy laugh, his impressive body.

she’s seen a lot more of all three since then. not to mention his bedhead; almost every mole on his body; and the way he’ll put himself between her & harm’s way every time. but eve’s true downfall, in this moment, is his intelligence.

it’s this damn case that eve’s been unable to crack for weeks, so frustrating that she’s thinking about it even now on their night off. while mike is relaxed, eve is still tightly wound, despite two – three – beers. and then … mike says it. he notices a clue eve had been missing, fits the puzzle together so effortlessly that it STUNS her. ‘ holy shit, mike … i could kiss you ! ’

his expression only flickers for a moment, but it’s long enough for eve to identify the intense, lustful gaze. he wants to kiss her. & she wants to kiss him. so she does, so forcefully that she almost knocks him backwards. he’s strong enough to stay upright, though not strong enough to control a quiet moan as eve deepens the kiss, curling her fingers in his hair. his hands skim along her back, uncharacteristically uncertain —— she reaches back to guide his hands to hold her how she wants to be held: TIGHT, as though nothing exists outside his hands under her shirt & their mouths & the unbearably exciting friction when eve slides into his lap.

now she pushes him back, pressing her body against his, unable to keep from grinding against him. well, she probably could stop —— but she doesn’t want to. ‘ eve … ’ his voice, like his touch, is gentle. but eve wants something more; she wants everything mike brags about doing with so many other people and everything he’s never done with ANYONE ELSE. she kisses his neck; he repeats her name but it fades into another moan when she bites. she pushes his shirt up, running her hands over his chest with a satisfied purr. mike chuckles at her obvious admiration. she dips her head to lick his chest, hands sliding lower to tackle his belt. now eve’s intentions are obvious, mike falls quiet, stroking her hair almost reverently.

she kisses down his stomach, leaves a messy LOVEBITE on his left hip -- the same stomach & hips she’s admired every day when mike works out, when he emerges from the bathroom clad in only a towel, when he sleeps almost nude in the bed next to hers. as eve eases his pants down his thighs, she wonders why they’ve never done this before. screw workplace protocol, screw platonic, screw keeping him at arms’ length ---- this is so much 𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑.
