You grew up a nerd. It wasn’t something you were ashamed of; it was just a fact. You collected comic books and action figures and you were proud of your nerd heritage.
But your passion was photography. You loved to take pictures and capture moments forever within a single frame. You loved that you had the ability to capture happiness and pain and power and all this complex emotions and messages with a click of a button.
So, of course, once you had a degree in photography and media studies, you applied to a bunch of conventions. That way you’d be able to capture the fans’ happiness with meeting their favourite celebrities, while you, yourself, got to meet all yourfavourite celebrities.
It was a win win.
And that was the story of how you ended up working at one of the photographers for the 2018 ACE Seattle Comic Con.
ACE 2018 wasn’t the first Comic Con that you worked at. You had worked a few smaller cons throughout the years, which helped get you the job at ACE, and you also volunteered a few of them when you were in high school.
But ACE was the first “big” con that you worked, and after you got the list of guests that you would be working with, you got a little nervous.
There were some TV guests that you didn’t particularly know or cared about, some bigger stars, and there was one name on the list that had your heart pounding. Sebastian Stan. The Winter Soldier himself.
Ever since you were little you loved Captain America and you loved the cinematic adventures of Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes. You loved Sebastian’s portrayal of such a layered and complex character. He showed the pain and PTSD of the character and brought back the human aspect of the soviet made assassin.
You just had a lot of respect and admiration for the talented actor.
Sebastian was an actor you had always wanted to meet and now you were going to be spending an hour with the man. Sixty whole minutes, give or take, with the actor in a small room. That was, of course, excluding the hour, give or take, you would be spending with him later on in the afternoon with the Marvel group photo op.
The day of the con you were nervous to say the least. You put on your best outfit made sure your make up was perfect before you headed to the convention center.
You didn’t have a photo op until noon, so you had time to settle your nerves. You did the photo ops of a few different smaller actors before you did the photos for Tom Holland, which was fun because you absolutely adored his incarnation of Peter Parker, but as you took each picture you felt your nerves begin to spike.
After Tom was Sebastian.
After the final picture with Tom was taken, his security escorted him out of the room and you were left alone in the small photo op room as you waited for Sebastian and his team to arrive.
You didn’t have to wait long before the tall, dark and handsome man walked in with his security team.
Sebastian smiled at you and you smiled back, forcing yourself not to blush.
“Hi, I’m Sebastian. It’s a pleasure to be working with you.” Sebastian introduced himself to you and held out his hand.
Sebastian was the only person you had worked with that took the time to introduce themself to you. It was really nice. You took his hand and shook it firmly, causing him to laugh a little.
“(Y/N).” You replied with a smile.
Sebastian nodded at you. “A beautiful name for a beautiful girl.”
You felt yourself blush, but before you could reply Sebastian’s team told him that they were going to start bringing the fans in for the pictures.
You laughed to yourself at some of the pictures and poses that the fans and Sebastian were doing. You were having a really fun time just being in the same room as him. Sebastian was a lot more down to earth than you were expecting. And a lot funnier.
You were going to be a little sad when it was over.
What you didn’t know was that Sebastian was also enjoying your company. He made sure to smile at you and pull a few funny faces to make you laugh whenever he could.
Sebastian thought you had a beautiful laugh and smile and he wanted to be the cause of your laugh. Seeing you, a stranger, someone he didn’t know, so happy made him happy and warm inside. That was something that he hadn’t experienced before.
Sebastian always wanted to do what he could to make other around him feel welcomed and happy, but whatever he was feeling with you was something different. Something he didn’t want to give up.
Once Sebastian had finished all his single photo ops, his security went to escort him back to his booth, but instead he crossed the room to you, which surprised you.
“Are you doing the photos for the Mackie, Hiddleston, Holland and I?” Sebastian asked, biting his lip.
You smiled at him and nodded. “Yeah that’s me.”
Your answer made him smile. “Good. I look forwards to seeing you again.”
His words made you blush again, which caused Sebastian’s grin to widen.
--
Sebastian was the first of the four men to arrive for the Marvel group photo op. He smiled at you and sent a you a wink before Mackie walked in and pulled Sebastian’s attention away from you.
Just like last time, Sebastian made sure to smile at you and pull a few funny faces to make you laugh whenever he could. But the two of you weren’t alone and Mackie was very perceptive.
Once all the picture had been taken, Sebastian went to go say something to you, but Mackie pulled him back.
“The only thing you better be saying to that girl is asking for her number.” Mackie whispered, giving Sebastian a pointed look.
Sebastian looked over Mackie’s shoulder at you. You were scrolling on your phone as you had nothing else to do between photo ops.
“You think so?” Sebastian asked his friend.
“Dude the two of you have been eye flirting this whole hour, I can only imagine that you were also eye flirting with her during your photo ops earlier.” Mackie said with a small laugh.
Sebastian shrugged, knowing it was true.
Mackie patted him on the shoulder. “Go get him, Romeo.”
Sebastian tolled his eyes but walked over to you all the same.
“Hey.” He said softly.
“Hi.” You replied with a smile.
Sebastian matched your smile. “So I hope this doesn’t come out wrong, but um… could I maybe get your number?”
Your eyes widened at his words and you blinked at him. If this was a joke, it was a very mean joke. “A-are you serious?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” Sebastian asked softly. “You’re beautiful and you have an amazing smile and laugh and I would really love to get to know you.”
You nodded and grabbed a pen from a clip board resting on the room’s back table. “Would it be super cheesy of m—“
You didn’t have to finish your sentence because Sebastian was already rolling his sleeve up with a smile. “Not at all.”
You laughed and wrote your name and number on his forearm.
“Great.” Sebastian said, rolling his sleeve back down. “I’ll call you later. I would love to take you out for dinner.”
Your smile grew and you nodded. “That sounds like a plan.”
