That awkward moment when your ex-wife marries your other ex-wife and they have a kid together while your own kids either hate you or desperately want your approval
Rarity’s family for my own Next Gen AU! Who knows when the next family tree will come out…no really, I’m not drawing a lot these days
About a year ago, I decided to reboot the Upsy Daisy verse a little and post on my socials. Finally, I’m posting it here!
This is part one, part two will be coming soon! Individual character info below the cut! Enjoy! :)
Chic “Chuck” Magnifique, 30
-Loud. Very loud
-Talks in old timey English accent eg. ‘What ho!’ ‘Good show!’ ‘Absolutely spiffing!’
-Total Himbo. Dumb as a rock. But is knowledgeable in certain areas like engineering and Southern Equestrian cultures
-Likely autistic
-Loves adventure, so much so he rarely comes home
-Loves Rarity and his stepmother Fleur
-Hates Fancy
-He mainly returns lost treasures to many cultures and tribes in Southern Equestria so he has earned a lot of respect from them
-Though this has made him develop a bit of a ‘white saviour’ type complex
-Very good of heart but his lack of common sense gets him into trouble
-Knows how to fly and build planes but is always crashing them
-He always sends the repair bills to Fancy
-Crashes (not literally this time) at Orin and Snowballs place frequently in Manehatten
-This eventually results in a on/off relationship with Orin
Iron Chad, 29
-Can be scary and intimidating but is actually a really chill dude which makes him an excellent bodyguard
-Is just a great drinking buddy
-Looks like dude bro but is full of chill and wise vibes, like a muscle-bound jock hippie
-So it’s no surprise that he likes surfing on his days off
-Hard of hearing and has a deaf mother so he knows the sign language of his people
-Which is what made Daisy hire him since she uses Minotaur Sign Language (and not because he’s hot)
-Bodyguard and boyfriend to Upsy Daisy
-Technically, his relationship with Daisy isn’t allowed so shh!
-Super close to his mother (a old school but awesome heavy metal singer)
-Relationship with Iron Will is ehhhhhhhhh?
-Had to unlearn a lot of toxic masculinity
-It used to be really bad, like yikes!
-When he started working hard to become better as a person, that’s when his relationship with his father turned sour
-Different values, bro
-Daisy likes his muscles and he knows it
Bramble, 26
-Has a broader collie called Skye
-Lazy bum. Hates chores and farming
-Unless it has to do with baking, making jams and foraging
-Is closer with Sugar Belle than Big Mac
-Simply put, Big Mac is a hard worker, Bramble is (mostly) not
-It kinda makes Big Mac sad that Bramble doesn’t seem to want to be close to him (like he was with Bright Mac) but he would never admit it
-Has absolutely no chill when showing affection with his boyfriend Ace
-Was originally the only gay in Sweet Apple Acres until his cousins came out. He was not amused by that development
-Despite being a unicorn, he feels more like an earth pony and rarely uses his magic, even for levitation
-Like his sister (the canon SugerMac kid) and mother, he loves baking and making jams
-He knows the Zapp Apple Jam recipe off by heart and makes it every year but feels like he just can’t get it the same as Great Granny Smith’s
-Grew up close to Daisy, besties for life
-This is due to Bramble being three days older than Daisy and their fathers being good friends
-Used to wrestle with her as kids but when Daisy became a professional, he never stood a chance
-does not like Fancy Pants but pretends to be nice to him since Ace asked
Upsy-Daisy, 26
-Is one of the four Draconequi in existence (the others being her dad and younger brothers)
-Mute, communicates with Minotaur Sign Language,
-Was kidnapped at a young age and has PTSD as a result
-Despite her trauma, she is playful and down to earth but it took a lot of (still ongoing) therapy to get to a healthy mindset
-Still has trouble with sleep so often has visits from Luna in her dreams
-Was born with magic but asked for it to be removed after the kidnapping since her flashbacks caused her to lash out and almost kill Fluttershy
-This broke Discord’s heart since she was the only other creature to have the same magic as him at the time but granted her wish (though he still keeps her magic safe in a jar tucked away in another dimension. Just in case)
-Loves bunnies and has a emotional support rabbit called Demon (no relation to Angel)
-Loves wrestling. Is a major wrestling star
-Kinda feels like wrestling is her outlet and way of taking control for what happened to her
-Despite no longer having magic and being mute, she can somehow make animal noises based on her emtoions
-Cutie mark hidden under her fur on her chest
-She didn’t know it was there until she got gum stuck on her chest and had that patch of fur shaved off
-Best friends with Bramble, can totally kick his ass and hates his PDA with Ace
-Non binary, uses any and all pronouns
-Thought she was asexual for a long time until she met Iron Chad
Ace Dandy, 26
-Has a ball python called Monty
-Talks posh Canterlot but is very much a Ponyville boy
-Has a tricky relationship with Fancy, who tried to train him into an elite when he was a foal. Rarity and Chuck did not like that
-Still really wants to impress him and live up to his stupid high standards
-Learned hoofball from his grandfather as a way to cope with his parents divorce
-Blamed himself for the divorce for a long time as a kid but even though he now knows it wasn’t, it still affects him
-Used to play for the Canterlot team as that what he thought his dad wanted but now plays for the Ponyville team
-Enjoys Buckball but prefers playing the Earth pony part since holding a bucket is boring. He loves a good challenge
-Super close with his brother Chuck, even more so they they both came out
-Do they go all out during Pride? Hell yeah!
-Has a younger half-sister Opalite. He can listen to her talk about rocks for hours, even though he hasn’t the foggiest what she’s talking about
-Would stomp on her crummy ex boyfriends if given the chance
-Like his siblings, Ace speaks Prench (French) but, much to his embarrassment, can’t read it very well
Bright Eyes, 25
-Has a sowy owl called Patience
-Gummy is a now a full grown alligator and is not allowed anywhere near Patience after he tried to eat her
-Technically an Alicorn with very underdeveloped wings
-Bad at magic for a time but learned to use it properly when it was discovered that she’s an Alicorn
-While they are friends, she butts head with Bramble a lot
-Especially about baking
-Bramble bakes to perfection, Bright Eyes just burns
-Hates this because everything she does is very high maintenance
-Has no desire to be a princess so is greatly annoyed when everyone calls her that
-Girlfriend of Tornado Rush
-Had an emo phase as a teen with lots of piercings. She regrets all the holes still on her face
-Mad about maths
-Like, gets ridiculously excited about numbers and how they can apply to day to day life
-Is a bingo queen
-Discovered she loved teaching and is working as a teaching assistant so to climb up to become a maths professor
-Can be overly confident, which has lead her to trouble more times than she can count (and she can count excellently, thank you very much!)
Pale Umber, 25
-Strong girl
-Big girl
-No surprise given her parents on both sides
-In fact, she was so big that she stunted her brother’s growth in the womb (and squashed AJ’s kidneys, rip)
-Very hardworking but literally the sunniest and friendliest pony you will meet
-‘Y’all come back now, y’hear?’
-Gets homesick very easily so not a fan of travel
-No interest in apples. Broke mama Jackie’s heart
-She did have the Apple Family’s hardworking and honest viewpoint, which often butts with Flim and Flam’s ‘neice’ Jammie Dodger’s not so honest lifestyle
-Learned lumber and wood work from Burnt Oak. Took over his business when he retired.
-Has a small herd of Guinea pigs that live in the barn. Has argued with Daisy about how much better they are than bunnies
-No matter how big she gets, she will always be Rockhoof’s ‘wee lamb’
-Not fazed by insects but terrified of snakes
-In fact, she never visits her cousin’s place since Bramble’s partner Ace has a pet snake
-Poor Monty was hurt by that
-Dropped out of high school early to peruse her lumber career but also because she hated school due to crappy teachers not being accommodating to her dyslexia
-Umber is still self conscious about not being able to read so great, despite reassurances from her friends and family
-Misses Orin terribly. He was the one who made her the flannel jacket
Orin, 25
-Grumpy and a Mr Sassy Pants
-Serious anger issues, will fight you
-Only his sister and dad can calm him down (and eventually, Snowball and Chuck too)
-Has an orange cat called Tiger
-Stunted growth since Umber took up most of the room in the womb
-Also has asthma as a result so isn’t really supposed to do too much exercise
-Still pretty strong due to Apple genes and some of Rockhoof’s magic so he will still fight you
-AJ used to be super overprotective of him when he was small, which may be where his anger issues stemmed
-Rockhoof trained him to fight at Orin’s request but don’t tell mum!
-Despite this, he loves his family and WILL FIGHT YOU IF YOU DARE SAY ANYTHING-
-Was super close to Great Granny Smith when she was still around, who taught him how to crochet
-Besides textiles, Orin is super interested in family histories, which he talks in great length with his younger cousin, Forelle
-Currently lives in Manehatten to study Fine Art Textiles and works part time in a Woollen Mill
-Has the typical Apple accent which confuses a lot of creatures since it doesn’t match his city hipster look
-Does not understand why he’s attracted to Chuck so much since he’s a idiot but mostly doesn’t complain
-Besties with Snowball, they like to go out clubbing
-Also no interest in apples
Tornado Rush, 25
-Takes care of Tank the Tortoise
-Knows Spitfire’s ‘drinking through a straw’ speech off by heart
-Works in the Cloudsdale weather factory specialising in strong storms and tornados
-She’s also one of her department’s Team Leads and is very stressed about it
-Very skilled flyer thanks to her mums but had interest in being a Wonderbolt
-However, she can be competitive
-Even more so than Rainbow Dash
-Whatever you do, don’t play chess with her
-Still lives with her parents. Mostly because it’s cheaper but also to give Rainbow Dash a hand caring for Spitfire (who became a paraplegic after a flying accident in this AU)
-Had to deal with a lot of body dysphoria and anxiety growing up
-Didn’t start her transition until late teens and is now very happy where she is
-Never changed her name
-Rainbow and Spitfire were super supportive of her transition. Sometimes embarrassingly so
-Girlfriend to Bright Eyes
-They are both giant nerdy bi love birdies
-Absolutely the responsible sibling, butts heads with her brash adopted brother Lickety-Split
Snowball Surprise, 24
-Grew up in Starlight’s Village with their three parents
-Non binary, strictly uses they/them
-The ‘surprise’ part of their name comes from the fact that they were born pretty early and ‘snowball’ because it was in the middle of a snowstorm
-Because of this, Double Diamond, Party Favor and Night Glider were super ultra helicopter parents
-Though sometimes they had good reason as Snowball is pretty impulsive
-Snowboarding is cooler than skiing, dad!
-Loves winter, always builds snow forts and has snowball fights even as an adult
-Even stole snow clouds just to make it snow earlier which they got into a lot of trouble for
-Very sheltered so living in Manehatten, they went a bit wild
-Parties all the time, probably does a lot of….adult activities that her parents most defiantly don’t know about
-Given their party pony side, lots of creatures are surprised they love knitting, which they specialise in for their studies
-Thinks Starlight is a creep, can’t really figure out why, just a funny feeling
-Has a bit of bat pony from Night Glider’s side of the family
-Met Orin in college, they became besties and roommates
-No, really, just roommates. No romantic going ons here, thank you
-They both bonded over their woes of having overprotective parents, talk about textiles and gab on all the local dirt on their fellow students
Some may already know I retconned RariPants a little. Digital Art > Drawings > Movies & TV"> I didn’t include Fancy here as this whole thing was big enough already, might make a different post with just him. All the kids cutie marks are the same, just didn't want to draw them.
Rarity
Rarity’s first marriage to Fancy Pants wasn’t as smooth as she hoped. Before, they were on friendly terms and got along well. However, that all changed after a drunken night out in which Rarity became pregnant. Initially, he wanted Rarity to have an abortion descreetly and even offered her money to do so. Rarity, after long talks with her family and friends, decided she had enough emotional and financial support to raise her baby and told Fancy it was his decision if he wanted to be involved or not. Fancy decided he did want to be involved but, unbeknownst to Rarity, planned to woo her so that would marry him and not ‘live in shame’ (Fancy was older than Rarity, had some pretty old fashioned views and liked younger mares anyway). Luckily for him, his plan worked and Rarity fell pretty dang hard for his charm and gentleman ways and they married roughly a year after their first son was born, then called Chic Magnifique.
For the first few years, everything was good. Rarity moved to Canterlot where Fancy and Rarity raised Chic together and eventually decided to have another baby, Ace Dandy. But things started to gradually change. Fancy started staying out later and later, leaving Rarity to raise two very rambunctious boys on her own while working on her three shops from home. When she asked for help (like, y’know raise your fucking kids and no it’s not babysitting, dammit Fancy), his idea was to vigorously train them as perfect little elites. When Rarity saw the negative effects this had on the boys, she blew her top, resulting in many massive arguments. During this time, Rarity finally saw Fancy for who he really was and left him, returning to Ponyville with her sons.
Fleur de Lis
Many years before Rarity met Fancy, Fleur was Fancy’s secret personal bodyguard. A native of Prance and a former secret agent, she came to work for Fancy by chance. Often, Fleur would act like a typical trophy wife who would over fawn and simper over Fancy while on the lookout for anyone who could harm him. She is full capable of kicking anyone’s ass and had saved his butt on a few occasions. The pair became really good friends and the two fell in love and married. However, things began to de-escalate when Fancy wanted her to be his trophy wife for real. After only a year of marriage, Fleur noped out of that relationship and quietly moved to Ponyville, becoming a private Prench teacher while ignoring the Canterlot gossip surrounding her.
A few years later Rarity and Fleur have a chance meeting and, after getting over the awkwardness of the whole ‘holy shit, it’s my ex-husband’s ex-wife, oh fuck’ thing, they begin an understanding friendship and reguarly have tea together. They soon develop real, honest feelings for each other, especially when Fleur got on so well with Chuck and Ace. With the boys’ very eager blessing, Rarity and Fleur marry and have their own child, Opal, via Twilight’s IVF spell. Fancy was not a happy bunny when he found this out.
Chuck Lindsneigh (formerly Chic Magnifique)
A ecentric pony who doesn’t know the volume of his own voice, Chuck is passionate and anything but subtle. He loves nothing more than to go on rousing adventures, fly his plane (which he crashes a lot) and return lost/stolen artifacts to the indegious races of Equestria and beyond. He has a very strong sense of wrong and right and will not rest until it is right again. Despite having a savant-like intelligence in planes, archaeology and ancient pony societies, Chuck has difficulty understanding basic visual communication so he often fails to understand other feelings (eg, why his brother continues to keep in touch with their father) and can be easily lied to (eg, he has fallen for many a scam by Jammie Dodger). This is due to him being autistic, which wasn’t diagnosed until he was an adult, something Rarity feels terribly guilty for. May have an on/off no strings attached relationship with Orin every time he winds up in Manehatten. Hates Fancy Pants and often deliberately sends him bills to places he’s damaged by his plane crashing.
Ace Dandy
Ace lives up to his name as a hoofball superstar, the sport introduced to him by his grandfather Hondo Flanks, as a way to cope with his parent’s divorce. Although smaller than Chuck, he is easily physically stronger and incredibly fast, having both played for Ponyville and Canterlot teams. He takes his celebrity status and image very seriously, taking care of his appearance but also showing endless kindness by donating endlessly to charities and signing every autograph asked from him. As good as his intentions are, this stems from an underlying need to be perfect. His elite training from Fancy and his parents divorce resulted in severe issues. He’d sooner ram his head in a wall than get one thing wrong and little Ace blamed himself for the divorce, despite Rarity’s insistence than it wasn’t his fault. Because of this, Ace accepts his father back in his life when Fancy returns, much to Chuck’s disgust. They have an ok father son relationship but Ace stresses when Fancy makes a minor passing comment or action that something’s not to his liking. Basically, this boy is 50% muscle, 50% anxiety. Ace lives with his long-term boyfriend Bramble at Grand-Pear’s old house. The two are very sugary sweet and don’t know the meaning of PDA. But what Ace loves most about Bramble is his down to earth nature and it never fails to put him at ease (also, he has a cute butt).
Opal
Opal is Rarity’s third and final bab and Fleur’s only biological child. The youngest sib at seventeen, Opal get’s really excited at the most boring things imaginable. She looooves rocks and often believes she was born the wrong species (Opal has a deep admiration for Earth Ponies). As a child, Opal loved going with Rarity on her gem expeditions, although she was more interested in the rock around the glittering gems. She is completely obsessed with Maud Pie and Maud, a little amused and touched by Opal’s eagerness, took it upon herself to become her mentor (Opal fainted on the spot when she was told this). Opal is also autistic (diagnosed as a child and Rarity and Fleur recognised the signs), like Chuck, and will info-dump the hell out of you about rocks. She struggles with reading other’s facial expressions but otherwise is a happy wee soul. Most of the time. Opal was blessed with both her mothers’ beauty which attracted the attention of many teenage colts but they soon dumped her when they realised she would never shut up about rocks. This would plummet her confidence for a while until a meddling little Hullabaloo set her up with his mortified brother Lucky Bug. Now the two can enjoy talking about rocks, bugs and do any cute smooshy teen romance stuff to their hearts’ content.
Extras;
Bramble does not like Fancy one bit, but Ace begs him to be nice when Fancy visits as Bram is known to saying exactly what he thinks.
Chuck loves his family (besides he-who-shall-not-be-named) and pops in every now and again, announcing his return by slamming the door open and yelling, “What-ho!”
Fleur taught all of the kids Prench which they are all fluent in (although Chuck’s accent is atrocious).
When Rarity and Fleur became engaged, Chuck and Ace asked her if they could call her ‘Maman’. She cried ugly tears of joy at that.
Chuck and Ace adore their little half sister and would probably stomp on all of her ex-boyfriends if given the chance.
Opal was born via emergency c-section. Fleur will tell anyone who would listen that her c-section scar is her favourite of all her scars.
Ace is willing to model any new line of clothes Rarity makes.

My Little Pony, Rarity and Flaur de Lis (c) Hasbro
Not entirely happy with this one but I figured it'll do for now. I'll write a wee story for this soon hopefully.
But basically, Fancy was embarrassed by Chuck and Ace's childish antics at his high-brow events (because, y'know, they're kids, dude) and put it upon himself to train them to be prim and proper young lads, despite Rarity's insisting that it was unnecessary.
Younger Ace took all etiquette lessons to heart, desperate to please his father no matter how much it stressed him out to look and appear perfect. Older Chuck (then called Chic), on the other hand, made no secret how much he hated it and soon called it quits. He'd rather be himself than to suck up to brown nosed snobs any day!
Fancy eventually got his head out of his arse and realised how his perfectionism was affecting his sons. He apologised (trying his best to ignore Rarity's 'I told you so' look) and let them live and discover themselves how they like. Still, this would affect both boys in different ways. Ace grew to have social anxiety from a need to look as perfect as possible and Chuck avoids his father a lot, unless he needs him to pay for damages he <s>most likely on purpose</s> caused on his adventures.
