Exquisite Corpsical Exercise

Feeling stuck today, and finding no good came of reading through the work of some of my favorite poets (John Berryman, Thomas Transtromer, Audre Lorde, Aga Shahid Ali (today)), I decided to try a writing exercise that is a variation of the old Exquisite Corpse the Surrealists invented:

I took quotations from the first several entries that came up for me on Tumblr. I skipped posts with no language (posts that were mostly/only pictures/screenshots) and took one sentence/phrase from each remaining post. I stopped when I had 10(an arbitrary finish line).

The quotations taken were each one line only, though I allowed myself to (1) repeat all or part of the stolen phrase and (2) leave out parts. For the sake of the exercise, I required myself to make a line break every time I either used a new quotation or left off words, so the line break always means some sort of break or interruption in the voice. (Resulting, also, in much shorter lines than I myself am inclined to write).
