Patroclus dying in Achilles' armor is so.........symbolic. Patroclus never felt like he deserved Achilles; he thought of himself as a failure, not good or strong enough. he saw himself as less than Achilles. but when he wore his lovers armour he felt powerful, he understood what it meant to be a good warrior. in the moment he died he finally saw himself equal to his lover. Achilles on the contrary has always seen Patroclus as his equal; he slept in his bed, he sat at his table, he accompanied him to important meetings, he asked Patroclus for his opinions. this is very painful
