counting bodies like sheep (to the rhythm of the war drums) | mission: manila folder { part 4 }
By the time Mystique arrives, the place is halfway to a bloodbath already. There's dismembered and beheaded bodies (Logan) and bodies that are disfigured and bleeding out on the floor (Azazel).
She's impressed.
Making her way over to the cells, she catches a glimpse of Havok and Darwin ushering the others out, Angel breaking cells open and she looks back to how fast they're advancing and thinks we're too slow. She's holding a spare gun, and she has a knife shoved into the belt she'd filched, and it takes a small twisting of her knife into the lock to get it open, before she walks in.
The rooms are so white, so pale and pristine it makes her shiver with imagined cold.
When she finds the small body curled in the corner, Raven's careful to hold her palms out. "We're like you, we're going to get you out. I'm like you, we're the same, we're the same, look."
Terrified eyes peer out at her and flicker across her skin, and so, Raven darts forward, ignores the flinch and supports the other mutant's weight as she walks out of the cell.
"Oi," there's a mutant -- she knows it's a mutant because he's not one of them, and he's missing the guard uniform. That and he's actually going through one of the guards' carcasses for cash, "the fuck are you doing? Get over here, you carry her out, the place is gonna come down."
She hands, gently, the girl over to the third mutant before she turns to Angel. "We're moving too slow."
If Angel gives a reply, Raven doesn't answer, gesturing instead for Angel to move on as the mutant inside wanders out by herself, a little dazed, walking as though there's a weight on her back which isn't there anymore. She hovers by the doorway and Raven becomes impatient.
"Can you walk? If you can, you need to move. If someone around you can't walk, help them. No one gets left behind, got it?" The girl still looks a lot blank so Raven snaps out, "Move."
And she does.
We're still moving too slow.
"Azazel, switch up, get them out. We're going too slow." She calls out, and the red mutant nods once, before he disappears in a plume of sulfuric smoke. Raven has a gun in her hand, which she doesn't know how to use (yet), but she does know how to disable. Pulling her knife out of her belt, she grins, teeth stained red, and launches herself at the nearest guard, long legs coming to wrap around his neck and she stabs into his jugular once, twice, three times.
A bullet slices her leg as the guard collapses and she turns to the source, a streak of blue as she leaps from one guard to the other, thighs wrapping around a neck before she shifts, giving herself more muscle mass and then crushing until she hears his windpipe snap satisfyingly, the back of her legs bleeding from where he's scratched to try and get her off.
She's pulled off the guard and a fist flies into her jaw, again, and her forehead before Raven uses his own weight against him to flip him over and shoves the knife into the back of his skull.
