This project is based on a fictional hoarder called Spencer Hansen, who lives in a tunnel complex under Stuyvesant Town. He ventures out every night and collects lost, forgotten, and discarded objects, manically trying to piece together the identity of the contemporary New Yorker. He collects all these objects in the tunnels, which function as a public display of his findings.
The first drawing addresses an orb weaving spider. The location of the tunnels relative to the frame remains the same, but the tunnels are now webs, and the artifacts collected are passing insects.
The second drawing addresses a fetish group attracted to furry objects. The poche of the section is covered in black fur, offering a tactile experience of the ground. Simultaneously, it makes the cluttered tunnels seem like they are made out of fur, a proposition that is very appealing to the fetish group.
