A Change of Pace is a pop punk/emo band from my high school (you may know the song Weekend Warriors) and they did 2 back to back sold out shows for the 20 year anniversary of their first official album. Insane. I feel so old. I woke up at 5am, packed up the bag I take to shows (with Narcan), and dealt with my grumpy cat. She knew I was leaving lol. Checked my flight and the weather in Denver and headed up to Phoenix. I got to catch up with some old friends, meet some new ones, and see the band I used to watch in 50 person venues and at Battle of The Bands. Incredible night. Amazing to see some folks maintain their sobriety and openly talk about their journey with making peace with themselves and their pasts. Had a killer Old Fashioned and had a Harm Reduction conversation in real time (someone was trying to push substances) with someone who didn’t understand the dangers of Fentanyl. Had a philosophical conversation with someone I used to stay up all hours of the night having those same conversations with in High School. Had a long overdue conversation with someone I had a crush on in High School who is still one of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever met. Stayed up like 40 hours straight going straight to the airport after the after party and catching up with another old friend while drinking red wine and crafting like old ladies. Now I’m off to destination 3 before heading home.

Hearing A Change of Pace cover Pink Piny Club was not on my Bingo card but holy shit did I enjoy it.
