I don’t think many people noticed this…but in Act 16, it was explained that Ami doesn’t need to become Sailor Mercury to maintain her connection to her element. As Ami Mizuno she is still connected to water and can hear wherever it’s flowing. You might find it interesting when Kaolinite was using her water mirror to spy on Ami while she was in the lab (on the 13th floor of Mugen Academy) in Act 30, Ami heard every word. This is because water reacts to the vibrations of sound in the form of ripples. ;) If you skipped season 2, you may have missed out.

Like Pluto, they’re sailor guardians too, but having different roles and provinces.
The guardians are supposed to be far apart and they never meet.
It is said that they protect Silver Millennium from the distant universe.
They’re legendary guardians, shrouded in mystery.
