Next review: HGAC Gundam Deathscythe!

Finally I have completed my HGAC Gundam collection! Once Epyon gets its time to shine I will have accumulated all the Gundams (not counting rebuilds).

The Deathscythe, by design, is the definition of unnecessary excess. It has massive bat-like shoulders, a coffin shaped shield and a beam scythe so huge it can reach whatever is standing next to it just by swiveling. But, forgoing this overindulgence of edgelord, this is still an awesome gunpla.

The articulation is much the same as the rest of the newer HGAC Gundams. Though it does have some points that are unique to this kit. In order to allow the arms to reach out to the sides properly the shoulder vernier engines can pivot inside and out of the way. The legs carry a similar mechanism to the MG Jesta in that the knees extend to allow the legs to bend 180 degrees without the knee pad hindering them.

The kit comes with two main accessories; the beam scythe with 2 blades and the shield with its own scissor beam blade. The shield has a point on its back which can be used to mount it to an action base, a nice display feature.

I give the Deathscythe 9/10 - another excellent Wing kit well worth the wait!

It doesn’t look like I’ll get much painting done for my GBA contest entree today. It’s windy as hell outside! I can always work on my display base though. I was working on placement and structure ideas!

Took some pictures with all the painted kits on the action base today. It’s pretty cool how putting a kit in the air makes it look that much more dynamic and cool! The vidar looks kind of strange with the black background, but I think it looks better than the shadowy mess that comes out when I try to take pictures of it with the white one.

Today’s review: HGAC Wing Zero!

It’s been as while from I’ve posted here, what with getting married and that. But now we’re back to uploading again!

This kit is phenomenal, featuring excellent colour separation for a kit its age. The only thing I did to finish it was add a few touch ups with paint and a silver sticker behind the green chest piece. Where possible, I avoided stickers on this kit. I used the yellow for the buster cannon and thrusters, as well as the eye sticker. But otherwise, it’s all painted on.

The articulation does suffer a bit on this kit, mostly due to fitting in its transformation mode. The shoulders and legs have some hindered movement which does prevent some posing, but nothing that can’t be worked around.

The weapons on the kit are all those seen on screen. You get the two beam sabers, the twin buster cannon, the shield barge, the shoulder gatlings... everything is here. Although the shoulder gatlings require you to remove the covers completely as they don’t feature in the anime when in use.

The transformation is quite fiddly, especially due to the feet needing swapped out and parts swapping across both sets of them. It looks good when complete, but I feel the original kit executed the transformation a little better than this one.

I give the HGAC Wing Zero 7/10 - it has a few flaws but overall it’s another great kit!

Next review: MG RX-78-2 Gundam Version 3.0!!!

I don’t know where to begin with this kit. I’ve owned it for years and it’s always been a shelf warmer in my backlog. Then I watched ‘Ready Player One’ and all of a sudden I had to build it. And I put as much effort into it as I could. I painted a lot of the details, added all the decals and spent the better end of a week putting it together.

All said and done this kit has surprised me. It holds together extremely well for something with so many layers of pieces clipped together to resemble the life size statue. The core fighter may just be a remold of the ver. 2.0 but it still looks stellar;

I even felt Amuro needed a paint jot to really make this thing come alive.

While it doesn’t come with all the Gundam’s accessories, it does have all its primary ones. The bazooka, beam rifle and beam sabers are all nicely detailed and fit really well in its hands. It takes a bit of work to get the Gundam to hold them in a good pose, but it’s not as difficult as other kits using the same hands.

I give this kit 10/10, I absolutely love it and if you get one you will too!

Today’s review: HGAC XXXG-01SR Gundam Sandrock!

Where to begin with this amazing little kit. For a new age gunpla, Bandai really went all out to make sure this melee based mobile suit had full access to the necessary articulation to make the absolute most of its poseability, even allowing the recreation of the MS lying on its side covered in flamingos (minus the flamingos).

The articulation is second to none and outstages the Maganac as it should. The waist has a unique assembly that allows the suit to lean over really far forward, being able to recreate its crouching charge as it throws the shotels. The shotels both have their standard and heated blades available, interchanged by simply pulling one out to exchange for the other.

The shield is impressive, needing only the eyes for stickers to complete its colour set. It is also capable of combining with the backpack and shotels to form the pincer used to crush OZ mobile suits and blow them to pieces.

The kit does have a couple of stickers, but even then they’re not wholely required to provide any major details. The red on the inside of the hip thrusters and the dark grey verniers are all you really have outside of the typical eyes and camera stickers.

I give Sandrock 10/10 - I can’t find any issues with this kit and trust me I’ve tried!

Next review: HGUC FD03 Gustav Karl!

I don’t know why I love this suit, but I do. It’s chunky as fuck, really flexible despite this and taller than the most other mobile suits. Yet they still arm it with a peewee Jegan rifle? Nope! I gave mine a beam bazooka from one of the Build Campaign sets instead, it seemed a more fitting weapon than the itty bitty peashooter it came with. Not to mention the weapon holding hand has issues holding any gun, the beam rifle flops about and even the bazooka takes some time to secure.

This kit is very well detailed and very fun to put together. Just watch out for the torso ball joint, it really likes to com apart if you lift it from above the waistline. The kit had very little stickers and I barely used any of them, only the scope on the gun and the black stripes on the legs. I did, however, use the silver foil of the sticker sheet to make chrome strips behind the visors, rather than cover them with a bland one.

The articulation is really good for a kit this chunky. The legs have a nice mechanism that allows for a double jointed knee. Same kind of articulation is present in the arms at the shoulder, allowing the arms a full range of movement unhindered by the extra armor.

I give the Gustav Karl 8/10. Weapon issues and loose waist aside this kit is immensely good!
