Like,u can talk abt the existence and meaning of life without using terms like "existentialism" "nihilism" "absurdism" etc. when its so clear the only understanding you have of them comes from memes and the ai summary on google; what most of you are referring to as existentialism is actually active nihilism, to name just one example. Youre trying so hard to sound smart but you look stupid

Its okay to share your own ideas with your own vocabulary instead of desperately attempting to prove youve read authors you actually... havent read.

I can tell when your source is a meme that said "existentialism: it is what it is, nihilism: its over, absurdism: fuck it we ball" and images of wojak nietzsche vs wojak camus & you and your input to any conversation are pathetic

When Willem Styfhals refers to active nihilism as "antinomian investment in this world that subverts its immanent logic" I don't need much more to work with because that's literally the premise of Existential Kink and I've been running with it since I read it! To me that's basically the nihilism that counts, it's the nihilism that counts, it's the nihilism in anarcho-nihilism, and it's the nihilism that is love. The true love of the world that also lets you destroy the world. The real hot black flame of the Yes To Life.

What the vitalist valuation of life forgets is what Nietzsche himself says about the need for illusions to preserve life. For what does life need to be preserved against? —Against itself! We need illusions (ie. interpretations, values, etc.) to preserve in life because life itself (that is, bare life on its own) is horrendous and cannot be valued on its own. We require illusions (values) that affirm it. But taking life itself as the central value attempts to bypass this need for illusion, ending in nihilistic confrontation with the intrinsic valuelessness of life itself (i.e., existence rests on a void). Attempts to overcome nihilism through the valuation of life ends in another encounter with nihilism, even more virulent than the first (see: Ray Brassier's argument in Nihil Unbound).

In the end, a blind affirmation of life cannot provide an escape hatch from nihilism, or an overcoming of it through the transformation of "passive" to "active" forms.
