In the name of Love
Love one another
For God is Love
Be a good lover.
For God, Love is not blind but for the sake of love he’s blind for your imperfections but he’s not blind for your salvation.
Fire - PART 1 - DE Sanders
Let us pray for our family to be united under the power of God to succeed in ALL plans that God has for them. A powerful family is ONE working together in ALL their gifts to give GLORY to GOD.
Acts 2:38. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
Slaying Our Giants
1 Samuel 17
If you read the bible a lot or not, most people know the story of David and Goliath. But let me recap what happened right before the battle until the end of the battle.
After Saul agreed to let David fight, Saul put armor on David but he didn’t want it because he wasn’t used to fighting with it on. He grabbed five smooth stones out of a stream and put them in his bag. In his hands were a sling and his staff. Both David and Goliath walked on into the battle field. Goliath sneered at David, as if the Israelite chosen was an insult to him. Goliath was so confident in this fight because how little, young, and weak David was.
My favorite verse in this chapter is verse 46: David said to Goliath: “You come with a sword, shield, and spear, but I come to you in the name of The Lord, the God of the armies of Israel, who you have defined. This day The Lord will deliver you into my hand; and smite you, and take your head from you; and then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! Everyone should know that The Lord doesn’t save with a sword and spear; because the battle IS the Lords, and he will give you into our hands.”
Goliath went to attack David and David ran to meet him. David took one stone out of his bag, hurled it, and hit Goliath in the forehead, knocking him to the ground. Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled. All of the Israelites cheered and David took the head of Goliath to Jerusalem.
Like this story in the bible, we all have “giants like David did. Giants make us feel insecure. Christ gives us the strength to stand up to our giants. If God is for us, no one can be against us! Without God, David couldn’t have defeated Goliath. God made it possible for him to win! In order for our giants to go away, we have to make it impossible for the giant to resurrect.
We CAN defeat our giants. The enemy tries to bring us down with these giants but we have to bring him down instead! We have the victory! Jesus won that for us on Calvary! If you can’t control something, you need to cut it out of your life. Quit blaming or complaining and get rid of the giant!
If you believe God is in control, all things are possible! Whatever is intimidating you, hurting you, or bringing you down, let it know that the battle is Gods and they aren’t going to win!
Individuality vs. Conformity
This past school year, we read Fahrenheit 451 in English class. Guy Montag is the main character and is a “fireman" in a futuristic society. The firefighters start fires instead of putting them out. No one is allowed to have books and if caught they are burned immediately. After meeting this girl Clarisse he gets tired of his life and work as he gets to know her more.
Don’t worry…I am getting somewhere with this. He becomes curious about books and steals one from a book burning. His boss becomes suspicious with Guy’s actions and warns him the dangers of the books. This just made Guy want to learn more. He wants a teacher and contacts to an old ex-professor who he met years ago. They end up working together. Guy’s wife is against his actions and calls the fire department to snitch on her husband. Their house gets burned down and he runs away.
You see, this futuristic society is conformed to not reading books but they watch T.V. They are conformed to what everyone else is doing. No one has the guts to be different.
This also contributes to today’s society. A lot of people are so conformed to what everyone else is doing that they are afraid of what others will think of them. They think that having sex and doing drugs will get you friends and you will be popular. I know from my own experience that if you live your life for Jesus you will get picked on. People will watch you very closely to see you mess up. They look at you as if you are an alien. They are afraid to live a life that is hard and different from what everyone is conformed to.
Don’t be discouraged, here is an example of what God has promised us:
Psalm 145:13-14: 13Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. 14The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.
Living life for God can be a struggle but He has a plan for everything. He will never leave you no matter how much you sin. He loves you and thinks about you constantly! He has a plan for your life and all you have to do is give your heart to Him.
So my question for you is: Will you be conformed to society or be individual?
