Wolverine, Psylocke, and Jubilee are able to escape from the Mandarin and the Hand when Psylocke enters Wolverine’s mind in an attempt to brainwash him which ends up short circuiting her own brainwashing, thus allowing her to regain all her former memories. And I do mean all her memories, as she seems to regain her original persona from before she entered the Siege Perilous. I guess that makes sense, since maybe she does a psychic download or something from Wolverine’s head, but none of the other X-Men who went through Siege Perilous have it this easy, as we’ll see shortly. There’s an element of untapped potential in Jubilee’s powers that manifests under times of stress, almost like she’s a character in Dragon Ball Z or something. This went nowhere, of course, in the long term storytelling, as Jubilee pretty much only ever shot her little fireworks off here and there as far as I know. (Uncanny X-Men #258 – Feb 1990)

Geez, more of the Hand’s scuba tank guys get killed when Psylocke enters Wolverine’s mind in an attempt to brainwash him, but the residual psychic energy snaps her out of her own brainwashing. Why do those scuba tank guys even need to be in there when they are brainwashing people? What are they doing, giving the victims back massages while they are getting brainwashed? Seriously, it’s supposed to be a sensory deprivation tank, so what purpose could it possibly serve to have more bodies swimming around in there? These poor old scuba tank guys. They spend their whole lives learning a trade that they love only to get killed because of an unsafe work environment. Don’t make your scuba tank guys go swimming around with your dangerous brainwashing victims! (Uncanny X-Men #258 – Feb 1990)

Holy shit! That game show host who is orchestrating the events of Acts of Vengeance turns out to be Loki! And then Loki and Apocalypse have a knock down drag out slobber-knocker at the end of this X-Factor comic! Pretty awesome! And then, a fucking mutated horseman version of Caliban creeps out of the shadows and Loki fucking LIGHTS HIM ON FIRE.

And then at the end Loki bails. Apocalypse totally kicked his ass!

I did not ever expect to see a straight up confrontation between these two characters, much less one that ends as decisively as this. Man, I really want to read Acts of Vengeance. I wish that omnibus was in print. (X-Factor #50 – Jan 1990)

STORY IDEA: ACTS OF VENGEANCE There is a new Ghost Rider and no one knows who he is. He has been going after friend and for terrorizing the whole Marvel Universe appearing randomly to seek out justice to the good and the bad and all those in between. Even the most powerful have gone into hiding, afraid of the penance stare. Mephistopheles is found beaten to a pulp, a go wrong mess with hell on lockdown. Now this spirit of vengeance is after his next target: STEVE ROGERS aka Captain America and the whole Marvel Universe will be on FIRE.
