One of the most annoying things about this whole exclusionist bullshit is that people I’ve been following for years for I dunno cat pictures or whatever will suddenly just state that they hate my existence like ??? Okay, Brenda, I’m sure you and Mr. Fuzzypants are complete experts on all LGBT+ issues who have no need to further educate yourself or anything.

tfw you realise that being agender doesnt mean you have to look androgynous or masculine and you can wear cute things and wear your hair long and still be as agender and it doesnt make you any less valid 

so yeah, here’s my shout out to every agender and other non-binary people out there that have the same issue as i do, i love you all and i want you all to remember that no matter how you wish to express yourself - you’re wonderful and valid and i love you lots!!!!

Do you have any advice for dealing with aphobes/ seeing hate for aros and aces? I have been seeing a lot lately and it's getting super annoying and disheartening.

My main advice is thorough use of the block button. Don’t try to engage these people. You won’t be able to change their minds and I’ve met very few of them who understand what civil debate is. It’ll devolve into them insulting you personally and possibly getting their friends to do the same. Blocking WORKS, that’s why so many aphobes get so angry when a-spec people block them. It makes it that much harder for them to hurt us.

If you see aphobia, just block everyone involved. Before following someone new, do a quick search of “asexual” “aromantic” or “discourse” on their blog. If anything aphobic shows up don’t follow them. Blacklist words like “discourse” and “aphobia” (if you use xkit it will block posts made by people with the words in their urls too which is SUPER helpful!). Your dash and the tags you visit will quickly become a much safer and less upsetting place.

And most importantly always remember that you have a community standing behind you. Your fellow a-specs are always here if you need to talk, vent, or just need some nice words sent your way. You’re never alone, my dear!
