It should be illegal to perform any medical procedure on a minor without their EXPLICIT. FUCKING. CONSENT. This especially includes life saving procedures. This includes routine medical exams. This includes invasive procedures.

Tell me, why is it that a minor's refusal to a treatment isn't taken seriously? Are we too not people? Do we too not deserve a say in what happens to our bodies? Is the opinion of the idiot who donated the egg or the sperm that made us worth more than what we think? Is it not enough to say no?

To the doctors who violated me, to the nurses who restrained me and forcibly took my blood as I screamed and sobbed and begged to be released, to the people who didn't listen when I screamed no, I hope you are haunted by the things you did to me that day—the same way I am by them.

oh also the gyn was talking about HPV and I mentioned I had the vaccine for it (which apparently isn't common?) but that I didn't think I had gotten the final dose. She checked and I hadn't so I asked if we could do it when we were done with the appointment. So I got a vaccine without taking weed for it! This is the first time I've done that I think since my needle phobia developed when I was a kid. This is an expected result of being medicated for a phobia, that over time your brain starts to learn that you didn't panic and nothing bad happened so the panic is unnecessary, but I didn't think it would happen so fast. I was still anxious but I feel like I was a more normal amount of anxious vs the full crisis-level panic attacks I get during blood work.

Tw needles

Trypanophobia is so fun. When you have to get your blood drawn, you’re literally crying even though you know it won’t hurt that bad. Wanting to be put to sleep with gas so you won’t be awake while an IV is inserted and having it taken out before you wake up. While shots are fine because the needle is in for like 2 seconds, bloodwork and IVs make you anxious. Being 14 and acting like a child makes it more ridiculous.
