I feel like the issue with a lot of flawed characters in media nowadays is less that they are flawed and more that they’re just… not likable? You can make a strong, compelling character who draws in people and is ALSO deeply flawed (Viper is right there—) but it requires you to have an understanding of the fact that that character is flawed to begin with…
Flaws that are integral to a character and exist with a purpose within the story >>> flaws that are a direct result of the creators’ choices and are in no way meant to exist in the way they do
That’s not to say that flaws have to have a purpose, but if you, as the creator, cannot admit that ur disliked character is disliked for a reason then I think there’s something there
