#wednesday Today is World AIDS Day. Understand the crisis is still happening 4 much of Africa and other Southern Hemispheric peoples due 2 lack of adequate care, infrastructure and medicines. The global movement, like any other, required decades of individuals from every walk of life 2 affect the change needed. Thanks 2 all of the activists and frontline people who continue the work, as well as the artists, past and present, who share stories that counter the ongoing social stigma of STD’s and HIV. ✊🏽⛑#wednesdaywisdom #worldaidsday #actupfightaids #hiv #aids #Repost @muchachafanzine ・・・ Reminder on this #WorldAidsDay that silence still equals death. ⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀ We lost an entire generation of queer ppl bc of the Reagan administration’s homophobic violence & their refusal to acknowledge the AIDS crisis. ⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀ We must honor the LGBTQ activists that dedicated their lives fighting AIDS but we must remember that the fight still isn’t over. •⠀⠀⠀⠀ 36 million ppl have died from AIDS worldwide & 1 million ppl continue to die yearly. In some countries, it's the leading cause of death disproportionally impacting marginalized communities who remain stigmatized, underserved, & neglected. •⠀⠀⠀⠀ The COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated injustices in healthcare by diverting resources from the fight against AIDS. •⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is still so much to be done. Let’s mourn the dead but fight like hell for the living. ✊🏽 (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CW9W7Apv0iM/?utm_medium=tumblr
