Aculos, as I've pointed out before, is Latin for acorn.

When Artemis is translating the Book, the closest human language he finds to Gnommish is Ancient Egyptian. We don't know which period, but even if we presume it's the most recent, New Kingdom, form, it still predates Latin by about a thousand years.

There seems no reason for the People to name their most precious and powerful artefact in a language entirely unrelated to their own.
