Casting shadows away was one of Ivy’s favorite dessert  – even more than chocolate pudding. After everything that was happening to her, the girl learnt how to loosen up. She used to spend her hours away, doing everything and nothing. She even skipped some of her patrol routines, something Elijah covered. But shadows never left. There was a hollow in Ivy, something ironic to say. Was it fate for her to loose everybody? There was no longer a way.

Walking back home that night, the girl sensed the bitteness in her nude hands and smiled, with her red cheeks. Two shadows on her door and she barely knew how to stop.

                     “Ivy - ” the woman’s voice was soft. 

         “Not now Ellen ” Ivy’s was not. “ Ada’s asleep and probably really tired. And I am really tired too so - move.”

Her voice changed in the moment she met her eyes. The move turned out to be not so threatening. And there were shadows once again, all over the house, all over the town. That fate she had been avoiding. She ran inside the house, screaming her name. Her things were still there. There was blood on the kitchen. The girl tripped on it. Stained with it, she felt the woman’s arms around her. One more night, Fall City heard the cries of a beheaded lamb.
