What motivates you? The human experience. The chance to share my thoughts and feelings about the world, and what it means to be a part of it, are what drive me to create. What's the best part of what you do? The moment I realize that I've successfully conveyed the idea or emotion that I was trying to get across when I'm producing, or when I select the exact right song for a crowd while DJing. What is the most inspiring thing a listener of your music has ever told you? The other day, I got a message from someone who told me that they're a huge fan and have shared my music with all of their friends. This is so cool and something I hope to inspire in everyone who discovers my music. I also recently found out, from a friend, that one of my remixes was being played in the terrain park on a mountain near Banff (one of my favorite places in my home province of Alberta). Hearing one of your songs being played public place (or being told about it) is true serendipity and one of the most interesting feelings I've ever experienced. Does a specific state of mind or mood generate your best work? Lately, melancholy has been the fuel. For reasons outside my control, I've had to temporarily move back to Edmonton from Los Angeles. It was difficult at first and put me in a profound state, but only good things have come from the situation, and I now find myself with more projects and opportunities than ever before. What's next for yourself? I'm starting a monthly party in my hometown called Foundation Edmonton. It's a small, no frills event inspired by the weekly parties I attended in LA. The first one is set to take place on September 11th and will feature myself alongside local talent on the decks.
