Hey Everyone, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We have entered the Sony FS7 II competition. Find out more here: http://bit.ly/2jd4FO3 and WE NEED YOUR HELP GUYS!
To enter the competition you need to make a 1 minuet documenatry and we have. We decided to do a documentary on Anthony’s Grandad and its called, Grandad Eccentric – The Life Of A Boat Maker.
It’s a lovely little positive short video on why my grandad loves to make boats. My Grandad is a lovely eccentric character with loads of great stories. So he was the perfect person to do a documentary on.
This short Documentary is all about doing what you love and not letting anything stand in your way. Learn from your failure and mistakes and progress forward in what you love to do.
HIT THAT THUMBS UP BUTTON!!
HOW YOU GUYS CAN HELP. We need you to watch the video here: Grandad Eccentric – The Life Of A Boat Maker and also make sure you HIT THAT THUMBS UP BUTTON at the bottom of the video. (see image above for help on what to press)
The more likes (thumbs up) we can get on the video on YouTube, the more likely we are to get into the finals and closer to getting the lovely FS7 II Camera. Only the videos with the most Thumbs up get into the final so we need your help to get them.
It would mean so much to us if you could help us win this. The quality of work we could do with that camera and the opportunities we would get from having it would be massive.
We are a small creative studio that is slowly making it’s way up to success. By winning this competition it would help us reach our goals a lot quicker. We do not have the money to be able to get such an amazing camera at this moment in time and it would be many years more until we are at a stage to do so.
Winning this competition would be a massive boost to our creativity and business. We are in the process of making a few shorts films and one of the hardest parts will be getting the funds to film them on high quality camera like the one we are trying to win.
So if you like the short documentary we have made then please give it a THUMBS UP and share the video with friends and family. Be sure to make sure you tell them to hit that THUMBS UP button on YouTube. Its those Thumbs Up that are the most important thing we need as well as you all sharing it on to other people.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this blog and to watch our lovely charming little documentary on my Grandad. I hope you really enjoyed it and stay tuned for a lot more creative films and photos coming your way on our social media profiles.
Here are some photos I took while filming the Documentary:

Hi guys. Welcome to another blog. Today we’re talking about our adventure in Snake Pass.
Snake Pass is a road famous for its scenery and its windy road. We thought it’d be a great place to capture some beautiful scenery of rolling hills and a glorious sunrise.
We set off on our adventure at 5 am knowing we needed to beat the sun and get set up before it rose so we’d get the golden hour glow we wanted. We arrived on time but we’d managed to pick a foggy morning making the big landscape shots we’d envisaged not possible. Once the sun had risen it was behind a thick layer of white cloud as well giving all our scenes a diffused and even lighting. With these conditions, we had to work out how we were going to come up with some nice shots. We like how the area had a calm, moody and isolated feel to it with how the fog hid the location away from most people and whilst we were inside it hid away all the outside signs of civilisation.
Settings – Shutter 0.3 sec, F 3.5, ISO 100, with the 18-55mm Canon Lens at 18mm.
We first came across a mini waterfall thanks to Ant’s keen eyes for a good shot. We stopped just after the Hope Woodlands car park heading in the direction of Glossop and set up for some shots getting motion blur on the fast flowing water making the movement look silky and smooth. This is achieved by dropping the shutter speed down to keep it open for longer meaning anything moving in the scene will be blurry but the static elements like the rocks are kept in sharp focus. To help achieve this effect with the bright white of the water we needed to use ND filters to darken the image down overall. A byproduct of opening the shutter for longer is that it also lets more light in, so the ND (Neutral Density) evens this out.
Settings – Shutter 3.2 sec, F 4.5, ISO 100, with the 18-55mm Canon Lens at 29mm & with a ND Filter.
We drove around for quite a while after this looking for inspiration but whilst we were still thinking big, landscape shots the sky was giving us no contrast in the lighting on the many reservoirs around the area. We decided we had to either get higher up and hike above the fog or go down deeper into the forest areas and concentrate more on closer up shots. We moved our adventure down into Hope Woodland and found a lovely stream nestled in the lush green woods.
We decided to head North up the river stopping every time we saw an interesting angle. We’re always looking for angles that people may not have seen before which lead us to venture into a bit of risen ground in the middle of the river to try and capture shots from the same level as the water and shots back out into the woodland. Specifically, we were looking for shots that would look great in monochrome as we love a good black and white image with the way lighting can be captured in this method.
Settings – Shutter 1/60, F 3.5, ISO 800, with the 18-55mm Canon Lens at 18mm.

We’re very happy with our decision to go into the woods as I think we managed to capture scenes that most people wouldn’t have ordinarily seen and compositions that could’ve passed people by.

On the filming side of things as we hadn’t set out with anything massively in mind to create it was very freeing to be able to film something and let it evolve naturally into what it has turned out being. It has ended up being our first, somewhat ‘tester’, adventure vlog. Our vlog is admittedly nothing like the standard gorillapoded dslr looking back at our faces we feel it’s a hybrid that suits us. We are already planning new directions we can take these vlogs in and new elements we can include. These probably will involve more talking and insights into our adventures but at the heart, we’ll make sure there’s incredible imagery and a sense of escapism as that’s what we’re all about!

Snake Pass, Peak District Adventure Hi guys. Welcome to another blog. Today we're talking about our adventure in Snake Pass.
This is our first ever wedding we have photographed and what a wedding it was! We where very lucky to have photographed such a beautiful Wedding as this one was our first one.
When we approach any project we always make sure we plan a lot and make sure we are prepared for anything that could happen. For this one we got the happy couple to give us a list of the photos they would like. We then used this to make sure we got every photo they wanted and we could tick them off one by one as we got those photos. We also where filming the wedding as well which made the planning even more complicated. We spent a good few hours in a near by field where I live. Where we filmed my partners girlfriend as the bride, rehearsing all the different parts of the day. This was so we knew where each one of us had to be to get the photos and video we needed.
I am sooooo glad we did a dry run in a field, as it gave us a good idea on how well the lenes we had would work and what we both needed to be doing so we did not miss anything. After all the planning and dry runs we felt we where ready to do the day. I was still a little scared as it was our first one and I knew how important it was to capture the day right for them.
No Matter How Much You Plan, You Always Need To Be Planning And Working On Your Feet All Though The Day
We had a great relationship with the whole family as we had done work for them before filming music videos and live sessions. We always like to create a connection with the people we work with as we feel this helps with the creative process. We had meetings and conversations over the phone to make sure we where on the right path to give the couple what they wanted.
On the wedding day we ended up getting up at 5am to get ourself down there before 7am. This is so we could get some nice sunrise shots of the venue and make more plans on how we where going to capture the day. We also like to capture the whole day for our clients so we start very early and finish as late as needs be. On this particle wedding shoot, we did not finish till about 12 midnight time.
Overall we both really enjoyed photographing the wedding. I loved how creative you could be with your photos and all the beautiful moments you capture thoughtout the day. Its a very positive welcoming atmosphere where everyone is there to have a great time. Doing this wedding just makes me want to do more! I cannot wait to shoot my next wedding.
Our next wedding we are going to make sure we invest in a high powered flash. As we had to use our studio lights on top of our cameras which where a bit of a pain. This was because when you had them on for so long shining a massive light at people, it would make it a bit hard to capture people without them knowing. Candid photos are the photos that show the true atmosphere and beauty of a wedding. However they where great for when you where filming. You could not do a wedding with a flash or powerful light as of all the low light places you are working in.
The light was great for filming but a flash would have been betting when taking photos.
Here are a few of the photos we took of the day.
We also filmed parts of the day. We did a film that we like to call, Memory Film. This is where we just capture small parts of the day, to give you a 3 min film of memory to relive your day. We feel capturing the whole day in detail is to long a film for most people to watch and doing a memory film is a better way of capturing it. Check out the one we did for them here:
We feel this captured the day perfectly in a way that does not get boring to watch and is enough for the happy couple to relive the day.
