adarore: #2. (Hello there~)
The book I read from was I am America (And So Can You!), which is a really good read. ;u;
And this is the last one for tonight. I'll do the rest tomorrow.

adarore replied to your photo “Radar thoroughly enjoyed his squeaky toy. All over the living room.”
The only real way to enjoy a squeaky toy. (What a cutie patootie.)
thank you! he is a little dingus and totally defunct in every respect except shredding toys and snuggling.

:Dc rats are just the cutest. thank you for sharing~
i love them so much! don't encourage me though, i'm like one of those people who carry around 50 pictures of their kids in their billfold and will tell you inane stories about each one.

It’s getting hard to come up with more interesting facts that I didn’t put in the “ten facts about me" things I’ve done in the past week or so. So there may be a disproportionate number that have to do with writing. Also, instead of forwarding this to specific people and putting them on the spot, if you end up doing this one because you saw this, would you tag my URL? Thanks!
1) The first story I ever sold was accidentally a feminist story. I say accidentally because I thought I was just writing about post-apocalyptic restaurant manager named Karma Rodriguez who teams up with her grandpa’s husband to hunt down the demons who kidnapped her grandpa (and it gets a lot weirder than that) but then I was told by a critically-acclaimed author friend that it was a feminist story. So that’s how I figured out that the secret to writing feminist fiction is to not be an asshole.
2) One reason I knew Ree (Maria) was right for me is that when we started getting to know each other, I realized she was so much like this character I’d written as sort of my “ideal woman," before she and I even knew each other existed, that it was like I already knew her. Except she’s even more perfect than that. I always thought there was no way I’d ever find a girl like that, and if I did, she certainly wouldn’t be interested in me. But yeah… Here we are.
3) I once drove a German friend to Belgium in an American car to visit her Portuguese friend. We got turned around on the way and ended up driving through Netherlands, and on the way back I got so turned around that we ended up at the English Channel. Now THAT’S inter-fucking-national.
4) When I was a soldier stationed in Germany, back when Yugoslavia was still a thing, my then-girlfriend and I ended up sharing a train compartment with a Yugoslavian soldier and his girlfriend on our way to Greece (specifially, Crete). The heater wasn’t working, and although our girlfriends fell asleep, the cold kept the Yugoslavian soldier and me awake. We didn’t speak each other’s language, but after a while we figured out that we both spoke German, so we killed time by telling each other dirty jokes in German until he and his girlfriend had to get off the train.
5) I’m pretty good at impressions and character voices. I’m actually on a companion CD for an RPG, playing the modern incarnation of an Egyptian god. (I’d love to do more voice acting.) Besides “people" voices, I’m really good at deep, growly, monstery stuff. I can do higher voices, too, though; Ree says my Gollum impression is way too accurate and creeps her out, and has forbidden me to ever do it around her again.

3) Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 23, give me line 17.
"As the dark retreats like a wave on a shore, three kids pile out of it, laughing." (Ray Bradbury Stories, Volume 1)
66) What is your heritage?
Mostly Northern European (French, Scottish, Irish, Dutch, German, Danish), with a healthy dose of Native American thrown in.
