While alpaca fiber is a protein fiber dyeing it can be a challenge at times. These are just a few examples of my 100% Alpaca yarn that has been hand painted. You can see there is slightly muted tone compared to our merino yarn but I spend a lot of extra time making sure the colors are consist.
