So I made this mashup a couple weeks after Hello by Adele came out. I'd never made a mashup up before, and like everyone who's ever watched Pitch Perfect, I was ridiculously in love with the way those songs seemed to fit together so perfectly. How did people figure it out? I didn't learn to read music until a year ago, so the concept of two songs being in the same key or having the same chords, etc, was unfamiliar. Until Hello. Until Adele. Thank you, Adele, for making most of your songs have nearly identical chord progressions and lyrical themes. I had Someone Like You stuck in my head and turned on the radio to hear, you guessed it, Hello. The incessant ear worm singing in my head synced up the melodies and I thought my head would explode if I didn't immediately try to do this. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done musically, because with only one song on iTunes and a handfu of covers out there, I'm a novice. But this, this is did by myself, in my living room. I used my own mic and did the recording and mastering myself. It took three days of effort and about a week or two of misgivings about whether it was actually as good as I hoped. My parents heard it, and then some friends, and then family friends. They pushed me to post it, and to soundcloud it went. Some people have asked for it to go onto iTunes, but I'd rather not for now. Maybe I'll get around to posting the video, though. 😜 But hey, enjoy. Share it if you don't mind. Leave me some feedback, I'd love to know what anyone anywhere thinks of my take on Adele. And of course, shout out to Adele for her amazing lyrics, compositions, and powerful vocals I hope I did justice. -kestrel 💋
