continuation of this joseph headcannon i had:

erina teaches joseph crochet, knitting, and sewing as a kid, which he loves

since it was so important to him, he teaches holy because that's one of the biggest ways he bonded with erina and he wants to share it with his own daughter

holy, loving mother she is, teaches jotaro in order to help him with attention to detail and impulse control, and in an effort to be closer to her son

jotaro picks up on sewing and embroidery more than crochet or knitting which is why he customizes his uniform, why holy doesn't object to it, and why he has consistent outfits with recurring design elements.

it's a grounding thing for him to have control of his clothes and making/altering them himself allows him to accommodate his sensory needs and fix them if they're damaged (he's a rowdy boy who gets in many fights, they're gonna be damaged)

then, because its the only thing that ever worked for holy when trying to bond with him, he teaches jolyne (or tries to) and while she doesn't take to it as much as her predecessors and he only really gets the chance while she's really young, she learns enough to use with her own stand later on, at least as a starting point to learn new skills as she goes

i’m laughing at the fact that one of Caesar’s like twenty ideas for How To Annoy Joseph To Death just backfired Entirely bc of Joseph’s ADHD

bc Caesar figured that he can start by just. casually leaning up against Joseph (even when they’re not trying to friendlily strangle each other they’re both v tactile ppl so there’s a lot of casual touching, so this on its own isn’t out of the ordinary at all) and he can slowly lean his Whole Entire Weight on him bc Surely having a Big Fuckin Person leaning on you fully must be Annoying, esp if you’re trying to Do Something, or (best case scenario bc Caesar is a stupid bastard) it will send Joseph toppling over and no Caesar doesn’t Care that that’d also send Him toppling over okay that’s collateral damage

except with a little adjustement in posture to accomodate him, Joseph ofc has no problem holding up Caesar propped against him unless Caesar does it Very Suddenly or takes extra measures to push them both off balance

and Joseph fuckin Loves pressure stims so Caesar leaning on him, to him, is v v nice and much welcomed. also lbr he’s probably been obnoxiously draping himself over ppl as a display of affection ever since he was a kid but eventually he grew big enough that neither Erina nor Speedwagon could actually support him when he would do that

so what Caesar has Schemed Up as a Prime Annoying Technique ends up being met with “oh this is v nice i love you too” from Joseph, and it goes Right over Caesar’s head, he’s just salty it doesn’t Work (he keeps doing it anyway but don’t ask him why, he won’t be able to tell, bc he’s a pining idiot like that)

And then he can move on, continue on with his father’s legacy, and never have to think about god damn Joestars ever again.

He’s hoping for good things and bracing for the worst, but if all goes well, all this disturbance in his life shouldn’t end up lasting long.

Yeah, Lisa Lisa is a great teacher and a v powerful person but also: she's been teaching the same one pupil for like five years. Expanding from knowing Caesar like the back of her hand to working with him And Joseph is a learning curve for her too, bc Joseph responds v differently to a lot of her methods/he responds well to different things.

Which at first she doesn't really Realise and it feels like Joseph is just being difficult on purpose when he reacts to shit differently, bc his approach and how he's motivated is Different. So while wrangling two magic himbos who constantly wanna fondly strangle each other, Lisa Lisa also gets a big lesson in parenting and like. How Do You Deal With A Kid Who Works Differently Than What You're Used To (Even More So Considering Joseph's ADHD)

okay i think i was originally just going for that parallel of "good teachers who nonetheless don't know how to handle ADHD/autistic/etc students" ANYWAY

She finds Joseph's lack of focus/attention span annoying and to be a Fault so she's v relieved when one day Joseph manages to focus on some solo training excercise Hard all day. Except, yknow, it's an ADHD hyperfocus thing and he, in true ADHD fashion, kinda forgets to take breaks and eat and all those other totally irrelevant things

He doesn't show up for dinner and Suzi asks what's up with that, and Lisa Lisa proudly says that it seems like he's finally getting the hang of what it's like to be Dedicated to a task. Caesar keeps his head down bc he doesn't wanna tell her that he Knows that Joseph v much knows what being dedicated is like, he's just dedicated to stuff like comic books and beating Caesar's ass at what they've dubbed Extreme Chess instead of doing actual training.

Suzi, on the other hand, does Not stay low bc letting your kid forego vital shit like breaks and food bc they Forgot, for the sake of Training is Shitty Parenting. She doesn't wanna Say that bc Lisa Lisa is kinda her mum too but like. She's not letting Joseph stay up until midnight doing whatever the fuck he was told to bc he forgot time exists, and then go to sleep hungry.

So she abandons the dinner table in favour of finding Joseph and dragging him there and Taking Care Of Him, Damn It. Caesar has a moment where he kinda ping-pongs between staring at Lisa Lisa for advice/input, and at Suzi leaving, before he trails after Suzi too, a lil confused but ultimately well-meaning.

(Dinner is done by the time they get Joseph over there so the three of them just have dinner together in the kitchen, which is actually kinda more fun anyway. Suzi ushers Joseph to bed with an "I'm proud of you, but pls take care of yourself")

(Meanwhile Lisa Lisa realises that she needs to seriously rethink her approach to Joseph Things)

So I'm relatively new to the jojo fandom but!! I've come across quite a bunch of your stuff on tumblr and I just wanna say that 1. I love your work!! and 2. You've intrigued me so much with your ADHD Joseph headcanons and I would LOVE to hear more! If there's any headcanons you haven't talked about much yet, here's your excuse to talk about them! Aaaaa you give me free reign to talk about my hcs and suddenly I feel like such a fuckin neurotypical, what even Is an ADHD. At this point I'm honestly not entirely sure what I've already talked about on here, what I've written or referenced in fics, what I have in the fic I'm currently writing - it's a mess

So, uhh. Have some assorted random hcs I found lying around in my head?? Hopefully none of them are big repeats D: I couldn't come up with anything longer and coherent in all the time I've spent sitting on answering this

He has a weighted blanket back at home which he Loves but when he can't have that, he either piles every blanket he can find on top of himself (cue him waking up all gross and sweaty the next morning from sleeping under four damn blankets) or coaxes Caesar into cuddling with him and lying on him which, to be fair, doesn't tend to take a lot of convincing. They're both like the only ppl ever who can propely take the other's Forceful Cuddling in general so it works out. Hamon training apparently has the great side effect of knowing how to not suffocate when your bf lies on you

Evening routine on the Island always involves everyone who trained that day going to shower Before Dinner bc no one gets to sit at the table all gross and sweaty. Works out v well for Joseph bc the moment he's not Actively Doing Shit he feels gross as fuck after getting all sweaty and it's sensory Hell. Esp if his hair got flat/stuck to his skin, he'd rather scratch his own face off than deal with That

Until he learns to read Lisa Lisa well, she sadly manages to tick off his RSD a lot bc she's v sparing with praise and never looks like she means it (or, well, her signs are v subtle) so Joseph lowkey feels like he's constantly being regarded as a disappointment. (Even when Caesar and Suzi tell him that That's Not It. Then he learns to recognise like One Positive Thing from Lisa Lisa after Caesar points it out to him and he proceeds to overdo everything trying to get that reaction Again, until his friends have to once again reign him in and tell him to Chill bc he's gonna end up hurting himself)

god I honestly don't know if this lines up with canon at all?? Bc guess what I never watched this far bc I got Sad. But my Idea of the Joestar Residence back in New York is a Fancy Big House and it absolutely has like. a small library or a study or two or idk. Some room that's quiet and kind of a sacred magical place when you're a kid and it smells of books. It's Joseph's like. Sensory Safe Spot when something overwhelms him so much even his own room isn't good enough

His two biggest hyperfixations I've got pinned down rn are comic books and motor bikes. Can ramble about either for hours ofc and he learned how to fix/augment his own bike mostly through reading a shitton and then trial-and-erroring his way through it

I Have to have mentioned this before but he paints his nails not just bc it's fun and pretty but also bc he loves how smooth it makes his nails feel and he loves rubbing his thumb over them. If someone else he's used to being close with has their nails painted (like Suzi or Caesar) he'll constantly seek out holding/messing with their hand too just to thumb at their nails

Focuses So Much Better if he's not alone. The other person/people don't even have to be doing the same thing as him, he just Needs People Around Him just Doing Their Thing without being too loud/distracting

I haven’t written on that yet, huh? But yeah, I think he does!

I have this random ass hc based on Nothing that I think I’ve dropped in fic once or twice?? that he can’t eat “chunky” food (yknow, like yoghurt with fruit bits in it for example) bc it freaks him out.

(That isn’t even me projecting, bc I’m on the opposite end of the spectrum, ya boy discovered at some point that rice pudding (the Hungarian version, which is p much just cream of wheat made with rice instead of wheat) is a good as hell sensory input and then ate that and Only That for lunch brought to school for like three months)

Clothes are a more notable one with him tho

He obviously has no issues with tight clothing as long as the fabric is Right. What he does have issues with is loose clothing actually?? Like. v loose clothing that sometimes touches you, sometimes doesn’t, bc depending on what the fabric actually is (and yknow. a bunch of other stuff i guess) it can get v overwhelming and make his skin crawl. So even when he’s wearing stuff like Big Hoodies for the comfiness of being Warm and Shapeless, he’s still usually wearing a form-fitting t-shirt or something underneath (sweatpants are easier to handle, bc they dangle less, but he’s still not a Huge fan).

When he began his training on the island (after the whole pit thing), Lisa Lisa went “wow, you look ridiculous, here’s some proper clothes to wear to training, loser” except the texture of Those Clothes wasn’t Right so Joseph refused to wear them and next morning went to training in his own clothes but refused to say Why. It was actually Suzi who solved that situation, drawn out by the slowly building shouting match, bc she took the wild guess of Using Some Empathy that if Joseph refuses to wear the clothes and won’t say Why then maybe just let him wear different clothes. If he wanted to just be difficult for the sake of difficult, he’d find better ways to do that. So anyway, Suzi tells Caesar to lend Joseph some clothes for the day, and Caesar begrudlingly does bc Lisa Lisa isn’t objecting and Suzi is one of the like two ppl in the world he actually Listens To.

Idk if Joseph ever gives back all the clothes Caesar has lent him but from then on Lisa Lisa mostly leaves him alone with the dress code unless he’s being truly atrocious

(He’ll also forego what’s Appropriate for the occasion/weather/etc in favour of wearing his favourite stuff he’s worn a hundred times before, hence him flouncing around in a crop top in the fuckin Alps)

8. When creating the characters for your WIP, what came first to you?

Okay this one has to be Perched Over Nothingness (aka demon AU) bc it doesn’t really work for the other one

In general my starting idea was that i want a demon AU that Isn't Horny. As for characters, it was generally their like. Basic Roles?? I knew I wanted Caesar to be a demon and Joseph to be royalty who Accidentally Summons A Demon The rest just came after that like unravelling a ball of yarn or something

13. Are there scenes that you cut already?

(Okay now back to Heirs To Nothing for these two)

As shocking as that is, knowing that i mostly Add scenes instead - yes! Two of them, actually

One was supposed to be something with Caesar realising the importance of Joseph's clackers by making the wrong choice of taking them away (which I've talked about in this post) and the other about Joseph's pressure stimming foiling Caesar's plans to annoy him (written in this post)

But since both exist as posts already, I lost all motivation to actually write them out Again, so i scrapped them both

Instead i worked Joseph's RSD and clackers into other scenes, and his pressure stimming instead comes up when Caesar tries to squish him as a Cool Wrestling Move and Joseph just finds it comfy
