Writing prompt! ADHD or Autism!Logan? Logan is stimming (maybe flappy hands if possible?) a side calls it annoying? Possibly another side sticks up for him since i'm sure Logan would just kind of let it happen. This totally isn't a vent suggestion I don't know what you're talking about.
Oh Nonnie I love this prompt! Thank you!
Logan had ADHD. It wasn't something that he was extremely proud of, especially when he got distracted from his work. But it wasn't something he could change, and most of the time he didn't think much about it.
The sides were gathered in the living room, enjoying a quiet evening together. Roman had suggested that they watch a movie and Patton had agreed that a movie sounded like a great idea. Patton and Logan had worked together to make snacks while Roman and Virgil argued on which movie to watch. Finally they agreed on Jurassic Park and they all sat down on the couch to watch.
Patton sat, letting Roman lean his head on his shoulder to relax. Virgil sat in the corner, curled up with a blanket. And Logan sat on the far seat, enough space between him and the others for him to loosen up and relax a bit. The movie's opening scene began to play, everyone watching in rapt attention, the room going completely silent.
It didn't take long for Logan to get tired of just sitting there. He'd seen this movie before, so why couldn't he do something while watching? His leg bounced, trying to keep him from going insane from sitting still.
"Aren't the baby raptors adorable?" Patton mused.
"Actually, even as infants, raptors are incredibly dangerous," Logan began to explain. He launched into a rant, talking about raptors and their clever minds and lethal attack patterns. Without realizing it, his hands started to flap as he talked. Just slight flaps, but they picked up speed as he got more excited, talking about dinosaurs so passionately.
Virgil kept looking over nervously at Logan's flapping hands. Finally he reached over and grabbed Logan's left hand, holding it so that it would stop flapping.
"Can you please stop that?" He asked quietly. "It's stressing me out and it's very distracting." Logan looked down at his hands, forcing them into his lap so that they'd stop flapping. Virgil went back to his blanket wrap, forgetting about Logan's stimming.
Patton glanced over, his eyes darted from Logan to Virgil and then to Logan's clasped hands. He noticed how Logan didn't seem to be watching the movie any more. After whispering to Roman for a moment, he got up and came to sit next to Roman.
"Hey," he said softly. "I think you're stimming is nice. I like it when you get excited. Can you please tell me more about the dinosaurs?" Logan glanced up, stealing a glance to Virgil, who didn't seem to be paying attention.
Patton waited patiently, smiling at Logan. So Logan continued his rant to Patton, who listened with rapt attention. Within a few seconds, his hands had left his lap, continuing their stimming. Logan looked down and went to put his hands back on his lap but Patton stopped him.
"Don't be ashamed of your stimming. Virgil just gets overly anxious. You're amazing Logan." Patton smiled as he saw a grin break out on Logan's face. The logical side's hands continued to flap, continuing their happy stim.
The movie continued throughout the entire interaction. Roman moved over to cuddle with Virgil, needing to hold someone during the movie. Logan continued to spew facts throughout the movie, his stimming having stopped after he finished his rant on raptors.
The movie was wonderful and Logan enjoyed it with his family. Patton said that he enjoyed hearing Logan's facts and learning more about dinosaurs, even though he was now downright scared of raptors, claiming that they're crazed killing machines. Logan thought that overall, it was a pretty good evening.
